Network disconnects when computer sleeps & wont reconnect

The problem where the Network drops connection when I put my computer to sleep is fixed. It dropped the connection randomly during my use this morning, but I'll let you know if it happens again.

For those reading this and looking for the end solution:
I uninstalled the Intel Network Drivers from the Device Manager and I uninstalled the Intel programs from add/remove programs. After that, I installed the appropriate Intel Network Driver for my computer from the Intel website.

That's good that the sleep connection drop is fixed.

For the random connection drops you should install InSSIDer which shows the wireless landscape in your area, from that we can make adjustments. Just post a screen shot of the read out from InSSIDer.

No wonder you are seeing disconnections, you are using the same channel as one of your own access points or maybe your own guest account, and the signal strength is the same so it's cutting right into your signal on channel 11.

I'm not completely sure if this is a guest wireless account or what because they both have the same SSID?

You will want to go into the routers settings for wireless and change the channel to 1 which will give you a clean signal. Those signals need to be on a different channel.

It looks like your own access point in this case but both networks here are overlapping each other which will cause problems.

Is this just one router? If so you should disable the guest wireless account.

There appears to be a wireless guest connection showing here with the same SSID and it's sitting right on top of the other wireless signal so it's hard to tell them apart.

So when you change the channel I believe it changes the channel on both which is a problem.

In that case see if you can find a setting for a wireless guest connection, it's there somewhere, don't bother with changing channels in this case because it's changing both of them.

Just disable the wireless guest connection for now.

its probably going to be under wireless or maybe check connection. But if it comes down to it you may just have to check each tab until you find it.

Most likely under wireless, all these firmware's are different so it's not so easy giving exact directions.

Actually; I have found its better to go to a channel thats in the middle; as less people such as neighbors etc will be likely to use the middle channels as they may not know any better. I would go to like channel 6 or 7.

That channel is already in use by the neighbor. Lets not add any confusion here please. ;)

The channel over lap is from a guest account on the same router, the signals are sitting right on top of each other.

Wireless had nothing about guest networks. This, however, was interesting under "check connection."

I'm not sure what that means, the problem here is the guest account being on the same channel with a complete overlap of the channel you are trying to use. That is the reason you had disconnections in the first place.

After that you begin messing with the drivers which caused all the other problems. The extra account didn't even show up in the first screen shot from Xirrus so perhaps resetting your router then reconfiguring the wireless would help.

Either way the channel over lap from the guest account is most likely the cause of the dropped connections so it needs to be fixed.

I reset it, changed the channel to 7, it still says one network is overlapping. If it helps, there is always one other, sometimes two others using the network at the same time I am.

What's the model number of this Netgear router?

Until those guest networks are disabled you will continue to have problems but maybe I can look up the .pdf for the firmware and find the setting for this.

Jumping in for a moment

This is a DSL router correct?
You have the netgear wireless cabled router to a DSL router - correct?
I don't think that's the model number - could you post a screen shot of the main router page?
