All browsers repeated crash - Windows 7 32 bit.

One of my PC's has over the last week started to crash whenever a browser is called up (IE + Chrome). This has developed until it crashes every time I go to Google Chrome especially
Have done all the usual checks (I think) to no avail - which included TCP/IP stack repair options for Win7.

Two other Pc's 1x XP - 1x Win7 on the same network are unaffected. It seems that the 'rogue' pc runs normally in every other respect
AV and malware checks done - dll re registered the list goes on, but no success to date

Your valued suggestions would be very welcome.

Click on the suggestion on top or hit the Enter key,
Go to the Startup section and take some screen shots for a complete list,
Go to the Services section and on the bottom left Check the box to Hide All Microsoft services,

many thanks for your thoughts - much appreciated. I had in fact done all that you suggested - nevertheless I did it again. Still regretably the same!

Later (at a point of failure) a message flashed up to say that the AMD graphics driver had stopped and was recovering. On this particular PC I have on board ATI/AMD graphics. I have NEVER liked ati/amd graphics, and for some time thought it was somehow 'lacking'. I decided to re install the whole gigabyte M/B driver set, and after a lot of frustration eventually managed to get the relevant driver installed and working. During the complete installation process, the opportunity to update the bios was taken. This generated a vast improvement, and has possibly helped the original situation.
The other area I looked at was the effect of eset smart security 8 on the system - with the firewall disabled I had a period when all was well. Tomorrow I will be looking at this aspect a little closer. I note that the vender (Eset) 'is managing these settings'.

In all honestly, you need to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. 64BIT is more stable over 32bit on any OS. That would solved all your problems. But good luck.

There is a PCIe slot on this motherboard - so I am tempted to obtain and fit a nvidia graphics card, and get rid of the ati/amd driver uncertainties. I have never had any issues with nvidia cards or software.

this pc has a gigabyte M/B with on-board graphics. AMD Radeon HD8470D. Driver is 14.301.1001.0 (dated 15-9-14)

many would disagree with your comment/suggestion. Many of us elected to stay with 32 bit in order that we could continue to use some of our older software. Millions of users out there with 32 bit systems enjoy total stability. 64bit is not the answer to all problems!
Meanwhile keep the suggestions coming chaps. This is such a widespread problem - surely a fix has been identified and recorded.
PS ran PC with eset ss8 turned off, but this made no difference.

Well what I believe he was referring to mostly is 32 bit has limited ram available 3gb to be exact and todays browsers are very resource "needy" to be faster
Todays browsers are making up for that by having flat designs but people often use browser add-ons = theme add-ons to sweeten the appearance of the flat designs which take up more resources

Then you get to the run of the mill browser add-ons which people also go a little nutty on cramming dozens of silly add-ons to do very little but also take up even more resources

So 64 bit gives you the ability to use more ram 4 to 8-16... thus making 64 bit superior.
Most 32 bit applications will still work with 64 bit but the developer does need to keep up with the times because they are ever changing.

Cant argue with that in any way - the point I made was many still use 32 bit for a reason. My comment was in no way a slap on the wrist to the poster.

Right, this is the stage that I have reached.

I have now had a further error entry in to the mix. I have experienced a picture interuption in that 'amd has stopped working and is recovering'. I have altered the virtual memory setting to the recommended, and this seems to have covered that problem. I would mention however that I still intend to fit a nvidia card in this PC - its picture has always been sub par.

I did try all the fixit suggestions made - but this made no difference whatsoever - still failure of chrome was instant, with the repeated option to reload.
Now being extremely P%%&+$ off with the whole issue, I uninstalled chrome (clearing manually the registry etc also.
I then installed Firefox, and all seems to be well at the moment. I am frustrated that I could not identify and rectify the initial problem, but there is a limit (in this case) as to the time I could afford. But I hate to be beaten
Will see how it goes, and will report back later. Again thanks for your valued input guys.

In browsers you should take note and or screen shots of what ever extensions/ browser add-ons you've add or come with the browse in question,

One browsers add-on can effect all browsers so can hardware acceleration in all browsers will effect that browser.

Yes your right -
I did take care of any hardware acceleration issues, and did in fact disable all add-ons from both browsers. This had no effect.
As this was not conforming to convention in any respect, I felt that to introduce a further browser was the only way to go. Had that not met with a measure of success, I had reached a point where I would flatten the whole installation and do a fresh install, when I had time
However, so far so good - will need to let my wife (her machine) use this, and see how it pans out. She has had 24hrs of uninterupted PC use so far despite giving firefox and IE a right bashing!

After 2/3 days, I can report that there are still issues - occasional stoppages with both IE & Firefox. Will ask her indoors to run in safe mode to isolate if there is a software problem OR hardware. I have a 'gut feeling' that this is down to the on-board ATI HD8470D + software. Time will tell.

Safe mode in Firefox might help but in ie you would use In-Private browsing to see if that made any difference
Neither should be confused with safe mode with networking although you can try it to rule out your antivirus program conflicting.

I must admit I was totally unaware that 'running in safe mode' was different from running with safe mode with networking

Yesterday I made one more 'change' - and will run with that to see what happens. If unsuccessful I will then do the safe mode approach as recommended. So, hold the front page!!!!!

Either that or you've picked up some malware or worse

slight wirecross here? - not using webroot, but I am using Eset smart Security 8.
Have used endless types of malware removal - all of which give a clean bill of health.
I will follow up on the link that you sent, and report back.
