CHKDSK Keeps Wanting To Run at Every Boot
As the title says, every time I boot CHKDSK wants to run, I have two SSD drives one with Windows 7 and the other with Windows 10, I also have a standard drive for photos etc etc, I've tried resetting it following the steps in this link
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/56685-check-disk-reset.html but to no avail, I've checked the standard drive to see if it's failing and it's good, it all started to happen since I upgraded 8.1 to 10. Any ideas?

Well you can use this command in Command prompt (Admin) :
chkntfs /x
for ex.
chkntfs /x c: d:
(where c: and d: are drives you don't want to check on next boot).

I have the same problem on my Win 7 install and dual booting with Win 8.1
You have to use the boot manager to select the version of Windows that you want to run. If I select the drive in BIOS of which OS I want to run, I can be certain that the next time I boot, I'll have to do a chkdsk on every disk in the system. But if I just boot into Win 8.1 and choose the OS I want to run from the Windows boot manager, all is well. No chkdsk.
If you're starting Win 7, then booting into Win 10, then Win 7, etc. You are going to have this problem. It's best to use a program like EasyBCD to set up boot manager to load the OS you want.
EasyBCD - NeoSmart Technologies
Early versions (2.2 and earlier) are free, though I'm not sure that they work with Windows 10. You'll have to try it out.

What is most likely causing the problem (I know because this happened to me!) is that Win10 has something called FastStartup turned ON by default. That means when you shut down Win10, any volumes you were accessing at the time remain MOUNTED! Thus, when you go back into Win7, any attempt to access those volumes will result in filesystem corruption.
What fixed it for me was going into Win10 and disabling FastStartup. The linked Win10 Forums page shows you how to do this:
Fast Startup - Turn On or Off in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

That certainly explains it, Mark. Does the same setting apply in Win 8.1?
