Solved Failing to update?

Screen snip 3 in post 119 shows IE 11 installed successfully.
Did you reboot after getting IE 11 installed ?

You can run IE and check the version.

Apologize, didn't get it, Screen snip 3 in post 119??

No I didn't reboot as all 130 of 162 got installed... How could I have..is it possible...??

I always reboot after installing any updates, even if it is not "required".

David pointed it out so yes it will show as ie11

Derek's method:

After a clean install and 2 updates recommended by ThrashZone.

1. IE11 from main MS download link.

2. .NET updates.

3. Than all the rest windows important updates.

Care to edit and clear up the confusion.

I would exclude ie11 from the first round of updates,
I believe it causes most of these Failed updates which should really show as does not apply to the system instead of failing to install.

I got this.....to exclude ie11 from beginning of the 1st round of updates, would that include KB3020326 too?

Could you care to make a step wise plan from the beginning of 1st round till windows is current, making it easier for me to understand and clear up the confusion?

Before you start download KB3083710 and KB3102810 in advance, and store them on a flash drive
Start and complete the install without an internet connection
Immediately after install is complete
Manually install KB3083710 and restart.
Manually install KB3102810 and restart.
Change your windows update settings I used Check for updates but let me decide when to download and install
Unchecked Give me recommended updates the same....

Restore the WIRED Internet connection and Activate windows
Then launch Windows Update search it shouldn't take very long 5-10 minutes for me
Only install Important updates first
Right click on the ie11 Important update and select Hide.
Click on Okay or save on the bottom.

Windows might search again = let it once it's done it might list ie9 or 10 and either might be checked

Scroll the list for this update KB3020369 and just Uncheck it from installing with the rest of the Important updates don't Hide it.
Install all remaining Important updates.

A few questions:

1. Windows might search again = let it once it's done it might list ie9 or 10 and either might be checked.....should I let ie9/10 install.

2. KB3020326 is unchecked, so both it and ie11 will be installed in the next check for updates after reboot installing the 1st bunch?

Not exactly because ie11 would be hidden
So you would need to Unhide ie11 first but yes you would unhide ie11 and install ie11 after the first round hopefully reporting back that you had No failed updates this time

2nd is also yes if kb3020369 installed all by it's self and not with anything else
You also keep typing KB3020326 instead of the correct update which is KB3020369 ?

2. If ie11 is hidden, won't get ie9/10, if I do get either should it be unchecked as KB3020369?

3. On reboot after hopefully a clean error free install , unhide ie11 and check KB3020369 for the final install......correct?

Do not install ie11 and kb3020369 at the same time.

As far as which Internet explorer will show up in the important section after hiding ie11 ?
You'll have to let me know at that time
If I remember correctly both will appear but only install one of them = ie10 preferably "IF" it shows up in the Important section

We're focusing on the Important updates for now lets get past them and getting No failed updates listed first

I'm serious no kiddin, helping people in sickness, agony gives me a lot of satisfaction, but it wouldn't have been possible with out your expert assistance and bearing with my questions.

I thought med was tough, but this comp stuff at this age and now Androids looks even tougher.

I stand by my words, IF ever you need my expertise (again hope not) feel free to PM......I can even remotely treat and some times cure even the most toughest of diseases.

Coming back , shall keep you updated what shows up, if for some reason you aren't available shall wait rather than going ahead and get an error. Since now am tired with MS support making me perform a clean install 4 times and doing a approx 2 hrs plus remote session after each with none results.

To report:

1. After all steps, 1st check for updates revealed ie11, hid it, again check for updates displayed ie10.

2. Now going to uncheck KB3020369 and install the whole 163 which would include ie10......is that fine?

I guess Thrash has a bit different method, I didn't see anything different by installing IE11 and getting rid of those previous versions updates.
