Solved No USB at POST after BIOS update

I wonder why manufacturers aren't updating their downloads section on their website but can update about new products.

:ditto: Roaster and another thing why in heavens name do they insist on handing out an outdated software DVD for boards when one invariably find that in reality about two versions or worse too old and also Asus for example making you change the BIOS for 7 drivers when installing it on a 10 original machine:sarc:

Going back to downloads I have noticed quite a few members who have had issues on new machines and when I have pulled up the support site it takes PHd in science to work it out.

I wonder why manufacturers aren't updating their downloads section on their website but can update about new products.

Most obviously because they don't make any more money on a product once it is sold. And once it is out of wty it is, at a certain level, wasted effort. It can be hard to justify "customer goodwill" in the investor meetings.

That said, if you take the trouble to actually build improved software, at least get some ROI by adding it in the support section!

.

Hi,
I didn't have to flash my bios for win-10 and I doubt I would of if prompted too :)
I'm still on the original bios on all my machines
I suppose it depends on what features you want to use
Intel rapid storage/ Raid/... which I do not use.

The asus chipset driver was a joke and nothing but junkware in it
It took a while just to figure out I needed to install nothing it offered  :)

The only exception I guess is if you have a board with a dual BIOS so if you do brick the first there is always a backup.

I didn't know that any are made that way except high end servers. In any case I'm sure that the installer would want to update both at the same time.

System One System Two

Just an update on this in case someone else follows this breadcrumb;

I contacted Gigabyte e-support and after many painful exchanges with some drone who did not seem to be actually reading my questions at all, I was eventually rewarded with a newer BIOS that does not appear on the product support page for my mobo. This BIOS - F10e - instantly resolved the issue.

I had several exchanges with a 'tech' who suggested I try going back to the old BIOS, which Gigabyte explicitly states does not support my processor. Like that was going to end well!

So while I have to give Gigabyte creds for supporting a board that I bought quite a few years ago (i.e. very long out of wty) it's also fair to ding them a couple of points for a process that (needlessly) took weeks to resolve. And if the latest BIOS was simply on the product support page I would not have gone through this at all. Thankfully, it was a non-critical issue.

I got a PC here with the same motherboard as yours and I am having the same problem. Could you attach the F10e BIOS you got from the Gigabyte support? So far I did not have any luck with the support myself. Right now the motherboard has F10c.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Hi gbrookie, welcome to the Forum.

I replied to this thread because of two reasons:

  • it describes the problem I am having exactly: USB keyboard does not work during POST (so entering BIOS is not possible) but works fine when computer boots into Windows.
  • OP has received a new BIOS (F10e) from Gigabyte that fixes this problem. Gigabyte, however, does not publish this BIOS on their website (latest they have is version F10c, which is what I have already). If the OP is still monitoring this thread, it is likely that he will attach the BIOS file to this thread and this will help everybody having this particular problem.
If I start a new thread, people will spend time trying to understand the issue and ask questions, most of which were asked and answered in this thread already. More than that, OP may not be following the forum regularly so he may not see my plea for help if I start a new thread. This thread may be old but it precisely describes a problem and its solution. All it needs is to have the necessary file attached for everyone's benefit.
