So releasing today, the GTX 480 and its cheaper brother are going to be reviewed by Hexus this evening (GMT -8 to GMT -5):

HEXUS.net - News :: This evening's entertainment: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 : Page - 1/1

$499 and $349 from the looks of it. But I'm not jumping on this bandwagon since the specs are supposed to put the 400 series at only 5-10% faster than ATI's 5000 series of comparable models. It seems the silicon is reaching its limits.

No dual GPU model yet, and the 5970 is still top dog until the performance reviews are in this evening. :)

Again, Thank you, I will be reading up on this tonight. You would have thought after a complete re-design of the chip, they would have sorted overcome that issue long before it was in the making.

NP. :)

Yup. This plus disabled cores makes me weary on sticking with NVIDIA. The ATI 5970 and future models is looking much better. I have a 3-way SLI/CrossfireX capable board (EVGA X68 A1), but I have a second video card to run two other monitors and don't feel like cramming a third in there since it would prevent me from running my sound card. So I'm stuck with the best solo card, which is the GTX 295 or 5970 now. I doubt the GTX 480 would have enough of a performance gain to justify an upgrade for $500. My 295 might even come closer to its performance.

I must have missed the link for the score's that are 5-10% faster? Only in certain parts of the Heaven test, witch has no link's or posted score's YET. We could spend days speculating as most sites have, till you show a link to a score or a valid posting of one.....
Fermi=Fail!

Can we please not turn this thread in to some Nvidia bashing thread.

Im not sure about you guys in the USA but I got a call from one of the guys at scan.co.uk and he was saying they have some there they're now testing and they will be getting their sale stock in the next week, to go on sale on the 14th-15th of april if all goes smoothly. He said the cards are working very well on their test machines. Even if there only 50% faster than a ATI card im still going to upgrade to one. Might as well jump on the 3D band wagon while its still new and fresh lol :party:

I'm a fan of nVidia myself... Even if the new cards offers a single 5% better than the high-end AMD ATi card, I'll be happy. Also, those cards are in the cheapest they ever sold on release date. Remember the 8800 GTX at launch... man, those were expensive : like 700$ !!

When I'll build my new PC, I'll be getting a GTX470 even if people say to go to ATI, I don't care, I'm a loyal fan and I'll be respecting nVidia.

On a bright note, I think Fermi is a good starting base for new series that will, hopefully, doing better.

Been watching reading the live commentary from PAX on the launch. It's just finished now, 2 lucky winners won a GTX480. Reviews of the card will be around anytime in 5 minutes and it seems to be true that there will be a general availability of the cards in 2 weeks.

So, I read Clubic.com/s test on nVidia's new GPU and they dubbed it the "fastest mono GPU" card. Well, I'm happy with the result.

Just reading through Hexus's review that I posted in the thread I made, and I'm happy with the results I've seen so far as well.
