Newbie so not sure what I need but
I got here from lots of searching on the internet to "
"0x0000009F" Stop error" search

The information I got so far from doing a memtest thru flashdrive:
OS v. 6.1.7500.2.0.0.2561
Locale ID: 1033
Not sure what this is: SATA: PM-ST3250410AS
The front of the tower says LG
I can get to the boot menu but it doesn't show a hard drive.
I can load Launch startup repair which brings me to: System Recovery Options
Use recovery tools that can help fix problems starting windows BUT no OS
or Restore your cmputer using a system image that you created earlier

If I select 'Next' it says: An internal error occurred. The fllowing info might help you resolve the error 'The system cannot find the file specified. (0x80070002)

when then brings me to a list of recovery tools.

When I do the 'Startup Repair' it brings me to a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
STOP: 0x0000009F message with more #'s.

Selecting 'Startup to Windows' brings me to the same previous error.

With the two System Recovery Options I can choose 'load drivers'
which brings up a box that says Add Drivers ~ Insert the installation media for the device and click OK to select the driver BUT it won't read the cd disk drive.
***I should note I don't have the System 7 disk which is what was installed but it was originally XP Home Edition which disk I do have and was using that one.

When I select OK it gives me a System 32 file which encloses a lot of other files such as 0409, AdvancedInstallers, ar-SA, bg-BG, Boot, catroot, etc.
If I go into any of these folders it gives me a message:
The specified location does not contain information about your hardware.

I just noticed that if I choose 'Restart' the computer hangs and after a long halt goes to the DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE
BUT if choose 'Shut Down' it shuts down immediately.

I seen a floppy disk option but there is no floppy disk drive in the tower
The cd/dvd player won't recognize my disks
but the USB port recognizes my flashdrive.

I do hope this is enough information to get this other computer running as I have another one in which I thought I lost the video card but maybe not. :D we network lots.

The DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE bug check has a value of 0x0000009F. This bug check indicates that the driver is in an inconsistent or invalid power state.

We do need the actual DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking. If (as in your situation) you cant, Try making a bootable USB drive and installing the win 7 image on it.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

So I made a Win7 image on a usb flashdrive do I open the self-extracting cabinet on flashdrive or should it open itself on the problem computer?

Also when I by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking it spits out a lot of 'Loaded drivers' information and then
automatically goes to Launch startup Repair (recommended) or Start Windows normally options.

I am assuming that isn't what is supposed to happen so now what?

You leave the ISO image intact and copy it to the USB using a program like MagicISO

I have been downloading my programs directly to the USB flashdrive instead of to my computer downloads file as I noticed some don't transfer well and because of our high downloads fees it was the most effective way to be able to use them on other computers. downloads such as Adobe Reader, browsers such as Firefox, Google Chrome, flashplayer which are not specific to windows os.

So I should delete the download I did and redownload to my downloads folder on the computer?

Also I opened the cabinet and it did an install & I hope it isn't going to mess this computer next time it boots! I was trying to see if it would just open an installer package or install onto the flashdrive or give me an option to. Idle hands :o
