Access Denied in Explorer

I loved the way that XP would allow you to organize the Start Menu for each user. Windows 7 won't even allow me to open the Start Menu for ANY user. I am set-up as an administrator, have granted myself full access - I've even run Explorer as an administrator, but still Windows won't let me in. I can't even access the Startup folder to add a program.
Help!

You will find the start menu folder under c:\users\<your user name>\appdata\roaming\Microsoft\Windows\
The start menu under users\<your user name>\ is a junction. It is not a real folder. It is there to allow legacy programs to interface with the new folder structure under Windows 7.

I found the answer in an older thread. The problem is due to lack of ownership. The Add_Take_Ownership.reg tweak allowed me to access my Start Menu and add a program to the Startup folder. I understand that the Documents and Settings area consists of junctions, but the Start Menu? I don't think so. Oh, well. Time will tell.

If this is the startup file you are referring to, you have to right click and click open to get access to it.

You are right! Why didn't Windows make this more evident? Now I have ownership of, I don't, know hundreds of files. How do I revert ownership?
Should I just restore an old image.... or take my chances?

I'd just leave it as it is, you will cause serious issues if you try to set it all back to default.

Ask first, someone here knows almost anything you need to know about Windows 7.
