Solved Advice on components needed

Hi all,
My old girl is nearly seven now and giving a few hiccups so I've decided to get my mate to build another comp for me and would appreciate some info from the knowledge base here.
You can see my system specs so here is what I want to do.
Keep the Antec 902 and replace the CPU, M/board, HDD and Graphics card. I've been told I should replace the PSU as well but is that necessary? If so what wattage?
I'm looking at 1150 pin (is that the way to go?)
The i5-4440, 4570, 4670 or even go to the i7-4770 or 4770K. The price difference is not all that much so which is the best way to go?
I'm lost with which motherboard to go for but obviously want the best I can get/afford to suit the CPU. Recommendations??
WD HDD maybe 500Gb - 1Tb. Green, blue, black??
Maybe a SSD for the operating system??
Video card - thinking 2Gb GTX760. Any other ideas??
As far as RAM would 1 single x 8Gb be OK or better to go 2 x 8Gb??
I can get parts cheap here at the minute so would appreciate some ideas.

Keeping your case is fine if you are happy with it. As far as the PSU, how old is your current one?

As far as the cpu, do you plan on overclocking? What do you plan to do with the new build..Gaming, video editing, or normal web surfing? This will help determine what cpu you need.

For motherboard Asus is a good choice, depending on your needs. I like MSI myself. Again this will depend on what you will use the computer for.

I would use an SSD for OS, and a WD black or blue for data.

The 760 is a good choice for graphics card.

Ram i would go with either 2x4gb or 2x8gb

Are you planning on overclocking? If not you won't need a CPU with the K in the name, example, i7-4770K, the i7-4770 would do.
You PSU would probably be ok if it has the PCIe and 4/8 pin EPS connector for the CPU.

RAM should always be in pairs to enable the faster dual channel mode. 2x8GB is a good choice.

PSU is same age (7yrs or so). I was told capacitors or some such wear out??
No, not interested in O/Clocking. Comp is on 12 hrs a day, downloading, burning, web surfing and will play games as well.
My current Asus has been great up to now but am open to ideas on different makes.
What size/brand of SSD would you reckon?
Black or blue WD - is there a big difference?
GPU. Go for the 760
RAM. Go for 2 x 8Gb

Didn't have a clue the K signified something to do with O/C
All I know about the PSU is it's a Thermaltake EVO Blue 750w APFC Gaming PSU. As far as connections I'm clueless
I'll take your advice about RAM being in pairs and go for 2 x 8Gb.

Capacitors can degrade over time and lose their capacity. New PSUs of good quality would have solid Japanese ones which are much more reliable. Corsair, Antec, Seasonic are good, they would have the needed connectors.

Yeah, the K CPU are what is called "unlocked" so they can be overclocked easily and cost a bit more.

The WD black are supposed to be more reliable drives.

I like the Samsung SSDs and have a EVO 240GB and a 256GB Pro series, they are one of the fastest on the market.

Getting there fellers!
Just got off the phone and can get:

GPU. Gigabyte 2Gb GTX760
RAM. 2 x 8Gb Patriot Viper green or G-Skill Ripjaws-X
PSU. Antec VP 650p
HDD. WD black SATA3 1Tb
SSD. Samsung 840 EVO series SATA3 250Gb

Now for the CPU.....Following advice from Britton re the "K" it's either i5-4440, 4570, 4670 or the i7-4770. Which is best, fastest, most reliable?

There are heaps of motherboards available but I can't list them all here so given the above, what do you recommend?

If you are not going to oc, get 4670. That is gonna be a nice rig when you get it!

Agree the i5 is a strong performer but if the budget will allow then the i7 4770 is also a no brainer. But that being said the combo of great ram, fast ssd, killer 760, solid mobo and either a i5 or i7 will flat fly !

OK going to work out the sums and decide but it looks like either the 4670, but if money allows, the 4770.
Asus or MSI Z87 mobo or similar.

Reckon after I spend this lot the missus won't talk to me for a month or so....Ahhhh bliss!!
I'll post back when I've done the deed and let you know how it runs.

Well well, here's me with stupid look on face
Had the money in hand to buy the new computer parts but being a stubborn mule this wasn't gonna beat me.
After trying a different HDD, burner, PSU etc etc, as a last resort I disconnected, cleaned and re-connected everything, fired it up and same bloody thing........hung at the blue windows screen after loading Windows files
I then.....childishly.. ..literally kicked the box and went to make a coffee before I really blew a fuse. Had a coffee, cooled down, went to shut the damn thing down and there is the next screen bright as day

So......completed the clean install and all is well. Happy again and with a grand of the ball and chain's money burning a hole in my pocket. Oh well, off to the pub

Hmm, I have two AMD rigs, they work fine.

I've built six AMD rig's and they all crushed as well and can overclock like crazy. Bang for buck AMD still has it's place !
