BIOS with no boot options

whs do you read the post #37 and its link here in this thread. its a common problem not peculier to you.
Sorry, in the heat of the action I must have missed that one. But that is very interesting. However, a friend who just got an Asus T100 Transformer for $349 has the same problem. Here they also locked everything with the bitlocker encryption. What sense does that make.

Doesn't make any sense to encrypt the windows partition by default. If anything it should only be an option.

I am not really sure whether chromebooks are such a big threat. And the 32GBs are ample. You can supplement with a 32GB Micro SD card. That should suffice for such a small system - at least my wife who has a T100 with the same specs is not complaining. We even put images on the SD card. Works well.

May be it's the side effect of creating online user accounts. "Windows 8.x" may silently turn on bit locker if online account is created instead of traditional offline user accounts.

Windows 8.1 Will Start Encrypting Hard Drives By Default: Everything You Need to Know

Thanks for the link. If it is that simple, I should have used that myself. I feel like a dummy. I will try the procedure tomorrow on a friend's laptop who has the same problem. Let's hope it works.

This is the procedure - very easy.

Windows Key + I and select Change PC settings.
Navigate to PC and devices -> PC info. At the bottom of the PC info pane, you’ll see a Device Encryption section. Select Turn Off

Update: This procedure worked. I just decrypted an Asus T100 of a friend with it. It was a no-brainer. I wish I had known 2 weeks ago, then my laptop would not be roaming the country.

Yeah right, unfortunately I could only apply my newly gained knowledge on a friend's laptop - not on my own. That is roaming the country now. I hope those Asus guys don't mess it up.

There was one point still open though - the RECIMG command did not work with the encryption - which may make a certain sense. But after decryption it still did not work. I wonder whether the encryption shut it off and the decryption did not put it back on or whether that function is not available in 32bit W8.1.

Curious Wolfgang: that Windows Key + I command: does that bring up a Windows control application, or an Asus/UEFI control application?

Hello, dimasimfer and welcome to the forums. This thread is about 8 months old and will probably get little attention. You would get much better response, probably if you went to http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/ and posted a new thread there by clicking on the big orange 'New Thread' button. Just give it a descriptive title and an explanation of your problem.
