I was recently infected by a Rootkit that gave be a BSOD and didnt let me boot at all so i decided the easiest thing to to was to restore my computer with the Dell DataSafe Program the comes pre-installed. After backing up my documents and completing the restore i am shown a screen that says "setup is checking video performance" followed by a blank username and password screen. No past usernames or passwords seem to work. Ive tried booting in safe mode but I still come up at the blank login screen. Ive tried restoring it this same way twice and keep getting stuck at the login screen.....

I appreciate and help in advance :)

Hi,

You can follow the steps mentioned below to restore your system to factory defaults if you have already backed up your data:

1.
Press F8 at System Startup to go to Advanced Boot Menu Options
2.
Select Repair Your Computer
3.
Select Language & Keyboard Layout as “United States”.
4.
Select Administrator’s Username & Enter Password.
5.
Select Dell Data Safe Restore and Emergency Backup Option.
6.
Select Other System Backup & More Options.
7.
Select Restore My Computer.
8.
In Archived System Backup (Highlight Factory Image Option).
9.
Select Restore Without Preserving New or Changed Files.
10.
Select Yes

The factory image restoration will begin. Once it is complete, you need to setup your user account and configure your wireless internet settings.
