Usual causes:  Device driver, BIOS bug, [COLOR="Red"]hardware defect[/COLOR]

I wanted to stress the hardware defect within the usual causes, since your previous crashes have pointed to the 0x124 BSODs; this BSOD from what I have read is usually due to the processor having problems, either way this can be caused by a corrupted BIOS which is not the best thing to have either.

Was this crash during Safe Mode?

Your other crash was 0xA which has a more software-related cause, but still has the potential to point to a corrupted BIOS and some compatibility issues also.

The two BSODs I checked were dated with today's date.

I dont see this 0x101 in the dumps. I know which dump is from when i was in SAFE mode but i dont know how to find the 0x101 in the dumps

Would the system restores that have been done (by me and by the computer automatically) have written over the BIOS? I ask because I did update the BIOS a while ago (not sure what date it was) but now i wonder if that update has been undone, so to speak.

The 0x101 is the latest dump file, you need a BSOD debugging program to view the details of the crash files, and System Restore only resets drivers and programs after the restore point was created.

The dump occurred when you were in Safe Mode, it was dated on the 19th (yesterday).

Thank you, again. There were a few on 11/19, which is why i didnt know. The one in safe mode was at 2:20, there was another at 2:26 that one was in normal mode.

There has been some changes. I was in normal and i moved/touched the usb cable in the back of the computer and i immediately trapped. I booted up and did a system restore to 11/11 to get some of those non working modules to work again. While doing the restore, the system trapped. I brought it up in SAFE mode and got the msg that the restore worked (?). I decided to update the BIOS from the Dell site and the BIOS update ran for an hour and was still running. I did not want to interrupt. I contacted Dell via a chat and she said i can do a hard shutdown. Since she assured me nothing wrong would happen I decided to try closing the application, first. That worked. So I tried booting up normal, now that i was restored to 11/11. I had no problems. A Windows update happened and the computer rebooted after 4 hours and I thought that was going to be the death of me. But it has not.

I have the old BIOS from 2010.

The only change is that i have removed a cable from one of the usb ports (2.0) in the back and put it in the front (a 3.0). The port that i removed the cable from is still empty.

Normally my computer is very loud. the fans are going either very fast or even when not busy i can hear the fans going. Now, i hear almost nothing. When i touched the usb and removed that cable i also tilted the computer, but just a bit.

It is a mystery to me but with the USB error you saw from the beginning and now that i no longer have a cable in one of those ports, i am thinking that port may have had a problem/short/ or something? I don't know how that would relate to the fans, tho. Maybe the tilt reset the fan in place?

I am almost postitive i still have the old usb drivers since i am now restored to 11/11.

One thing i did not do last nite is turn the computer off. I am reluctant to do that since rebooting is when i would typically get the traps. (not all traps were from reboot but almost every reboot resulted in one trap)

I am not sure what to do at this point. I feel like i am working with a very delicate machine.

Reboot and see what happens; remember that you are still under warranty and there is still an option of getting Dell to send you a completely new replacement for free.

I have rebooted 2x now. No problems at all. And the fans remain quiet.

I guess the next test is to put something in that USB port. I hesitate cause I am thoroughly enjoying this peace of no traps. But i guess i should to get down to the problem.

Yes, place a USB stick in the port and see what happens, are any of the other USB ports working?

My other usb ports are working. Even the one I pulled the cable out of was working at the time.

I have not yet put anything in that one usb port because with no changes apparant to me, the fans have started to run hard at times (downloading, opening large folders on the my harddrive). Also, something else that used to happen and had stopped has started again. I think the monitor or video card is slow to respond. I have open windows hanging for long periods (i cant close or move them and the busy mouse icon is turning). These were things that were happening for a few months before the traps started. So i thought maybe i should keep the usb out of the mix for now to see how bad it gets.

but, there have been no traps!

That doesn't seem normal for a system like yours, check the hard-drive for any bad sectors and file system errors with:

Ran the Chkdsk
Ran Crystal Disk. I did a copy paste into a file and am uploading that. If that is not acceptable I will redo.

I will now look at the SeaTools info and do taht other scan you mentioned.

In order to install SeaTools app i had to install .net framework 4. did both.
Tried to run SeaTools app.

Popup saying scanning for supported drives SCSI
then scanning for supported drives ATI
then scanning for supported drives USB
and then i get stxcon.exe has stopped working.

I tried it 2 times, maybe 3 times. Same result.

I tried doing a Basic Test --> Short Generic on the drive called Generic Ultra and that had same error.
Tried Basic Test --> Short Generic on drive Dell USB Mass - it failed but i did not get a popup stating anything
Basic Test --> Short Generic on hard drive ran and passed

Crystal Disk Info reported the hard-drive as being Good (health status), although the temperature for your hard-drive did seem to be little warm at 39'C.

stxcon.exe is the executable file for Seagate for Windows, however, the main test seemed to work for your hard-drive which is the main thing we need to check, try running a long test on the hard-drive and report back results.

What results did chkdsk find? Have you checked your protected Windows files with System File Checker yet?

Have you got MSE installed yet?

I did install MSE (again) after that restore.

re: Malwarebytes the Dell tech deleted it. The restore I did makes the computer think it is still installed tho. I guess the registry data is there. But the program is gone, yet I do get msgs to update the database, but that doesnt work either.

There was another anti virus deleted by the Dell tech and now that i am restored the computer thinks it is installed, it seems. I have tried to use uninstall to uninstall it (even tho it is not there, i dont believe) but that doesn't work.

So those two things are a bit hokey right now. and perhaps that is causing my seeming delays or hesitations, not sure what to call them.

Chkdsk ran for 6.5 hours and i did see most of the msgs. But, when it finished i didnt catch the entire message (it ran at boot up). Everything i saw said 0 errors or 0 everything, nothing said bad sectors that i noticed. I don't think it logs that info anywhere, but if it does pls let me know where to look!

I have not yet gotten to the System File Checker. I needed to use the computer and didn't know if this was going to be another multi hour tieup.

I will run the SeaTools long test now. What is a healthy temp range? had installed CPUID HW Monitor a while back before coming here. it tells you the temp but i didnt notice any indicator on what is out of range so i stopped using it.

The SeaTools long test is going to take 7 hours (6 hours 53 minutes), so this is going to be quite a while.

It's good there has been no errors detected with the hard-drive, and why is Dell deleting Malwarebytes and other anti-virus programs for? :huh:

You have the coolest tools!! I was able to locate the chkdsk output. Looks okay to my uneducated eye. I attached the file.

When Dell tech took control of my computer he noticed an antivirus and said that can cause traps so asked if he could remove it and I said okay. He then also removed malwarebytes.

I've never seen and heard of Malwarebytes causing BSODs with Windows 7 :huh: I don't always trust these companies and their support, since they tend to try and start to promote their products and services.

Some errors were said to repaired:

CHKDSK discovered free space marked as allocated in the
master file table (MFT) bitmap.
Correcting errors in the Volume Bitmap.
Windows has made corrections to the file system.

Have you had any other BSODs recently? I'm trying to stay away from doing any stress tests since it may void your warranty.
