The driver athrx.sys seems to be causing some issues, and is rather outdated and old, it would be best to update the driver if possible.

I can't seem to find any drivers related to your network card on the Atheros website:
Code:

Probably caused by : GenuineIntel

The 0x124 crash indicates that there may be a problem with one of your PCIe slots, which your network card also seems to be using:

Thank you. How do I figure out which Network card I have? I ask so i know what driver to look for.

So, I have something that looks like a problem with the Network card and, coincidently, there may also be a problem with a PCIe slot that the Network card happens to be using?

So, do I open the tower up and remove / reset the card? I am not sure what to do at this point.

McAfee blocks networks every off and on. Uninstall McAfee Using McAfee Removal Tool. Use Microsoft Security Essentials only as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner. What you have there, two different real time protection programs installed, is not anything good, and it will not make you secure at all.

Download and install those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Your network card is
DW1525 (802.11n) WLAN PCIe Card [/code] Which uses an Atheros chipset, and the driver is extremely old.

I got another STOP 0x1A saying MEMORY MANAGEMENT this morning. Windows would not restart so asked to do a Startup Repair and then a system restore. I tried doing the SF Diag to grab the info but it seems to have hung.

If I understand you tho, bottom line, you think i should reintstall windows 7, right? Or should I try all that other stuff first. I dont know how stable this computer is, again...

Oh, and I don't know how it is that McAfee is running on my computer. DELL Tech removed it back in November when i first contacted them. I never reinstalled it. Could it be it appears to be running due to my having done a restore to before it was uninstalled, but isn't actually running?

I attached the latest dump of 12/17.

Thank you.

I tried running just the download MCPR but that gives me error msg (i run it as administrator) in a pop up box.

"Error writing temporary file. Make sure your temp folder is valid."

gives no other info like where it wants the temp folder or anything else.

BTW my McAfee license expired in May 2012.

UPDATE: I ran mcpr from the website rather than download and run. It worked, McAfee is off this computer as of 6:10 pm Eastern time on 12/17/12

I went to Dell products and the network drivers they have for my computer are
RTL81XX PCI-E Network Connection and
Wireless 1525 WLAN Mini Card Desktops

I downloaded the Wireless 1525 driver and I got a pop up box with
"An error occured while unzipping. One or more files were not successfully unzipped. The error code is 40."
I wil contact Dell in regard to this error code.

UPDATE: Rather than download the driver and run from computer, I ran it from the website and it worked with no problems. As of 6:10 pm Eastern timei on 12/17, I should have the new network driver on this computer.

I am putting the date and time cause at 5:02 pm Eastern time, i had a trap which i uploaded. Since that trap, i have the new driver and mcAfee removed.

I have a problem, let me know if i should start a new thread.

Windows Firewall will not start.

I was going thru the Clean Up Factory Bloat link and removed everything from start up and also all non MS services from starting up. I looked in the Event Viewer and am seeing a lot of errors, now. The one I looked at first is this Firewall will not start because the Base Filtering Engine won't start due to Access is denied.

I feel i have made quite a mess of things.

I tried starting Base Filtering Engine manually (as admin), I get access denied
I went to control panel > windows firewall and clicked Use recommended settings. I get a pop up with :
Windows Firewall can't change some of your settings. Error code 0x8007042c
I went into services (ran as admin) and went to Windows Firewall and hit start and i got a different error msg
Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start. (one being the Base Filtering Engine)

I have no idea on how to get Base Filtering Engine started.

I tried numerous things that i found by doing google. I even regedit the users permissions for
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BFE and added a new user called Everyone with full control per
http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f217/solved-windows-7-windows-firewall-not-working-bfe-access-denied-635246.html

but it did not work for me.

I am pretty positive this did not happen as a result of a virus or anything cause it happened right after I stopped all those services and startup items in the system configuration. (doing this also resulted in me having to reinstall my photo editor, i do not yet know if other programs have been negatively effected.).

Should I open a new thread for this problem?

With the new drivers installed, I got another crash this morning right after initial boot up. 121812-32229-01

I had removed some of the Dell Bloat, had not gotten to all of it, i was focused on that lack of Firewall problem.

I am thinking of restoring to 11/11/12 restore point, if I still have it available (hope so) since this seems to happen after a Windows update. Or, maybe I should contact Dell but all they seem to ever say is reintstall Windows.

The same crash has caused due to a PCIe port, which the network card is most probably using, have you considered getting a replacement computer from Dell using your warranty?

Here's some the output from the BSOD:

When I mention a replacement to Dell they come back and tell me to reinstall Windows.

I was thinking of buying a new hard drive, putting that in the computer and installing Windows on that to appease their request. Think that would work? Problem is I dont know how long I would have to work with that hard drive before this machine starts crashing again.

I really do not want to lose any data on this hard drive. I have backed up stuff but i have had a back up drive fail on me in the past. I am involved in a legal battle and i have to preserve emails in their original state in order to be sure there is no question as to their authenticity when the time comes.

Have you told Dell you have already reinstalled Windows? A hard-drive won't resolve the crashes in my opinion, since it seems to be physical issue with either the PCIe slot or the network card using the slot.

Have you got a external hard-drive or USB flash drive, in which you can save your important data to?
