i bought this custom pc off a mate of mine so i only know a little about and where too find the correct information. i am getting constant bsod but with the blue screen instant restarts screen turns off then the computer restarts i can still see my logitech display on my keyboard running for about 5 seconds after screen is black then computer restarts i was getting this problem when i first got the pc but it has gotten too the stage where yesterday i was crashing upon load in so i reset the mother board in a attempt too even get too the load screen thinking maybe something has gone wrong but i can only look at web pages now if i load any of my games this is what happens. call of duty black ops- several ways it crashed are loaded game up and actually went INTO game upon loading the game map i see the map name on the left side of screen and then the map picture appears and then crash i have also run about 20 meters int he game and crashed as well it is SO random i cannot figure it out.

i started with 3 water cooled GTX 580's now i am down too one in an attempt too figure this out. UPON taking out 2 cards the system ran fine no hiccups nothing i thought i was king dick of the cheese factory i went too bed woke up the next day and turned on the pc and could not even load into windows.

i have gotten toot his put of just loading into games now i crash upon loading full screen of msi afterburner i crash upon furbench the system is fully water cooled except for the ram and not over clocked i have seen it hit 70 but the house was 40 degrees. it has been very strange with the working and then not working and it is starting too wear me thin too the put i want too put my size 11 boot through the mother board and kick my cooling system on the other side. currently debating on buying a titan and hoping it fixes this problem.

i will post as much info as i can i am not a genius i am a gamer i blow stuff up not put it together ;)

thankyou Adrian

It is a stop 0x116, which is a display/graphics related issue. But the installed Display driver is the latest.... it is out a couple of days ago. Just want to know .... was it showing the BSOD in the same way even before installing this driver version? Answer carefully, as your answer may be proven as a document for the future :)

Also, it is a computer of more or less two years old. So there is fair possibility that there is dust allocation inside it and it is being hot. The temperature can cause a stop 0x116, anytime. Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy.

Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) supplying adequate power to the computer or not.
eXtreme Power Supply Calculator
Also let us know the wattage of the PSU that is inside the computer.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.

Let us know the results.

ok i have run the furmark and it lasted roughly 1-2 seconds i got to see some graphic picture which looked like a weird eye? like something out of minecraft than screen went black and computer restarted. In regards too your question before on whether this has only been happening before the current driver upgrade on the card yes. i have even tried the BETA driver version and i still crashed although it changes so i will not say it is the exact same crash every time as i said yesterday i actually got too move in black ops 2 yesterday only 20-30 meters before crashing but always black screen then full restart. before than i could play for ages and nothing woulds happen (played a full day once i removed 2 of my gtx 580's). i am hoping i am just providing all of the correct information i know alot of people are having the kernel 41 problem with these cards well any in the 500 range from what i have heard. in my opinion i would say the crash has been the same every time

i was just able too watch a couple of video's about the titan on they were youtube videos's and i did not crash and i did put it in fullscreen as well not sure if that helps

Well, the issue is with the GPU itself. It is not functioning properly.

Plan to change it. If it is within warranty, RMA it.

i have changed out the graphics card i had in for another gtx 580. loaded fine i ran furmark and it ran looked like it ran fine went outside while it was still running came back in and yup you guessed it pc was restarting. pc would not start it was in a continuous restart load it the windows logo and restart again i have currently got it running graphics availability is unknown i had too do a sys restore to a point where i had not even dled furmark yet that jsut finoished dling now so i will run the test again and stay here and watch it but error was still a kernel 41 and the same key words as always 0x8000000000000002 but bug check was 0 and so was the parameters. ok enough chat time too do the stress test ( remembering with my previous card i could load it for only 2 seconds, this card before i crashed and had too restore would of been an easy 30 seconds i watched it before leaving.

Stop 0x116 is a display/graphics related BSOD. There are certain reasons that can make display crash to BSOD.

  • System/GPU overheating + dust allocation.
  • Bad/Failing display driver
  • Bad/Failing GPU
  • Inadequate power supply
Now, what comes out is .......

  • The system is not overheating at all.
  • The driver is the latest version. I asked if it BSODs with the earlier versions too, you havent answered. So considering that it is not the case.
  • Power supply is more than adequate.
It is the GPU itself that remains there. Specially when it is crashing during the stress test, we can almost certainly say that it is the GPU that is failing. Its a crazy thought to expect 100% surety in remote assistance. We just can guide you in the proper way. Dont forget that we are not able to see your system physicallyand test in hand. We are trusting on the data and information you have supplied.

Now come to teh COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CARD causing BSOD. As far as I can see, the card is .....
Name NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580

Whereas, the GPU that was in use during the previous BSOD is .....,

So ..... I am not able to see the difference between these two cards.

This is your computer. Your decision is the final. You may take my/our words or not. We can just suggest based on what we see, and what we see that it is the SAME GPU caused the last BSOD that you posted.

Ok so here is my question noe i am guessing ym thrid card is going too have the exact same issue NOW i am thinking the gpu is failing because the others seem minor too me COULD the gpu have failed due too my resent power outage at my house. power went off while pc was running and in game now as we have seen just won't do what it is told. If this is possible that a power outage could destroy my gpu's i can attempt too get my insurance in on the problem because pc is insured under house and contents :). my problem is i know 3rd time i ask this same thing. would a Tech see that a power outage could cause this damage and if so why only the cards why not mother board cpu etc etc etc

thanks for all your help Sincerely Adrian

I'm sorry for the long delay. I've been quite busy with other things.

I looked into your crashes and every time I see the following error code: c000009a (Insufficient system resources exist to complete the API). This sounds very much like memory for Nvidia's drivers ran out. While you do have a lot of RAM, it's possible a driver of some sort has a very serious memory leak and is filling it up quickly. There's also a good chance this is caused by memory failure or a problem with your motherboard in supporting your RAM.

If you are overclocking your memory or anything, reset them to factory defaults. Also make sure your memory timings are correct. Can you tell me what exactly your RAM is, like what model and brand? There's a possibility your motherboard may not support your RAM configuration or those models of sticks.

There are some stuff you need to remove. First, go to the EVGA website and download and update all your motherboard's drivers for all its parts. Second, uninstall all software that comes with your motherboard, as well as TuneUp Utilities. This includes overclocking software, monitoring software, driver update software, etc. Only leave device drivers designed to make parts of your motherboard work. Everything else should be removed.

If that does not fix your problem, then do some hardware tests. I recommend starting by removing all your RAM except the first slot (any other will cause problems), and then run Memtest86+ for 7 passes (all tests done once = 1 pass) on that one stick. After that, even if it shows up bad, replace it with another stick, and test that for 7 passes as well. Repeat until you do it for all RAM sticks.

If you see that all are many of your sticks are showing up bad, it's a motherboard/PSU problem. If you see only one or maybe even just two sticks bad, it's most likely a problem with those sticks. If Memtest hangs, crashes or your system restarts during the test, then you have a serious motherboard or power supply problem and one of them has to be replaced.

I know this is a lot of work, but finding problems with hardware - especially with this much of it - is hard to do without already having the right equipment available. I am confident we have a hardware problem, but which hardware it is can be very difficult to determine. So we will need to test with brute force and process of elimination.

I checked the compatibility list and it doesn't even list any 2000 Mhz 4GB modules for your motherboard, only 1GB, 2GB, and 8GB. While the list is not comprehensive, it could mean that the system doesn't like 4GB modules at that particular speed (plus it said you had to overclock to even get to 2Ghz from 1333Mhz).

I noticed you only mentioned 12GB kit, but Speccy says you have 24GB installed. Do you have two sets of this kit? Have you tried reducing the amount of RAM you have installed, perhaps halving it? Again, I recommend testing one module at a time with Memtest. Also if your system somehow goes stable with one or two modules that turn out clean on Memtest, it may just be your memory configuration.

I am still puzzled about the repeated reboots once your first one kicks in. That always sounds like a PSU or temperature problem.

yes i have 2 sets of these but the problem still existed before i put the second set of ram in. SO you don't think it is my cards? and the power supply tested fine on the website seemed too be putting out the correct voltage and watts according too the spreadsheet anyway.. The motherboard that is in the pc could be stuffed but it is watercooled ( well sure looks like it) If i was too replace it what board would run my current items obviously i would want too upgrade not downgrade so what would be a suitable comparison. i don't want any of the parts i have too go too waste such as the ram and the water cooling so what would be the next board for me?
