Well, from your description, you obviously know what you're speaking about!

Before reading your post, I just changed my AMD graphic card witn an NVIDIA one, after removing the Radeon drivers.

I set back DVBViewer to use the EVR Vista video renderer that was making it crash (0 crashes so far with the VMR7 renderer), and I'll see what happens.

If I still get crashes, I'll try something related to the AVER driver.

The AVER driver is named:

A188_Win7Logo_Drv_x64_V1.3.64.76_IR_Install_MCEPlug-ins2080_100816

which strongly implies it is for Win 7 x64.

Hovewer, the copy I installed years ago is 30% smaller than the one that's currenly on AVER site, with exactly the same name!

I'll install the new one, and see how it will go.

Please note that using both cards worked well for maybe 2 years, the crashes started to happen only recently.

If it's worked before, then something has changed in either how you are using them and/or the Windows environment, enough that it'll manifest the symptoms in this way. Sometimes it's caused by a Windows patch on kernel code that fixes a security hole that the driver may or may not have been using to do its work!

I understand that the name implies Windows 7 Logo, but there is no going against the fact that the driver itself predates Windows 7 RTM based on the timestamp burned into it during compilation time. It may have been developed during Windows 7 beta, but I haven't come across any Windows 7 beta driver so far that has worked in a stable manner now.

We'll see how it goes with this 'update'. I cannot really provide any more assistance beyond what I've witnessed from this current data. Again, you can give me that kernel dump from a Driver Verifier crash, but I'm thinking I'll only see more of what I already suspect. I leave it to your discretion.

I'm running stress tests with the new graphic card, and let you know how it will go. So far, no crashes, but it's too soon to tell...

Since I changed the graphic card, I have been running in parallel a DVBViewer recording, using the EVR Vista video renderer that was making it crash, while playing a video file with both VLC and VideoRedo, and an Aver recording.

In addition, I was running Memtest to saturate the memory.

It's been almost 2 days, and no more crashes.

I'd say that I am 99% sure that the problem was an hardware failure with the previous graphic card.

I'm currently stumped on this one. The kernel dump shows even more to blame on the Aver TV tuner card being responsible. I don't even see DirectX being involved let alone the graphics card, so I'm kinda scratching my head on this. I will continue to dive as much as I can on it but this is turning out to be very elusive. Regardless, if it worked for you, glad to hear of it.

I'm pretty sure that you're right about the Aver being responsible in verify driver mode.

Its driver has probably the kind of defect that appears when rigorously tested, but does not always happen in regular operation.

In retrospect, I should have uploaded a full dump with a crash happening during a DVBviewer display event, but of course, hindsight is always 100%...
