I'm having very frequent crashes with my brand new ASUS Windows 7 family 64.

► You need to update your network driver, too. ATHEROS drivers for Microsoft Windows (Atheros?????)
First, download the network card driver from manufactuer's website.
Then reinstall the driver:

1. Click the Start Button, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the Start Menu Search box and press Enter.
2. Double click to expand "Network adaptors".
3. Right click your network card and click Uninstall.
4. Check "Delete driver software for this device" check box, click OK.
5. Restart the computer
6. If windows does not auto configure the appropriate drivers at startup, install the downloaded one manually.

Some common suggestions: Update all your device drivers like Realtek Audio, Intel HD Graphics etc.

Hum... almost nothing. Had IE9 open on sevenforums.com
Probably one http download in progress (though I had many BSODs with NO pending download)

How old the CD ROM is?
Can you remove it, to test if it stops crashing or not?

CDROM is brand new, like the computer.
It is embedded my laptop. I don't think it is extractible.
I was not using it (no disc inside) when crash occurred.

I would suggest you to turn on USB Selective Suspense.

I followed your guide but USB Selective was already ON.

Ran the test 3 passes with NO errors (didn't do the 7 passes, I thought I would damage my new laptop with fixed image for 5 hours... unless there is some way to switch to a black screen ?)

OK it seems I have version 1.0.035 whereas latest version is 1.0.036, I'll try to do the update.

With Antivir deactivated I didn't have any crash for more than 1 hour... and then it happened again.

Tomorrow I'll bring it back to the store (still under warranty).
I just wanted to avoid a probable return-to-Asus with 15 days wait.
