Solved BSOD while playing Witcher 3, BCCode 1e, new ram and SSD

I've upgraded my old PC with another stick of ram and an SSD. I've installed windows from scratch on the SSD, noticed huge improvement in my PC's speed so I thought about playing Witcher 3 - maybe it'll work. And it does, beautifully but it crashes with the same error every time - I get BCCode 1e, and the four other lines are just filled with a bunch of "0".

I've checked my ram with memtest86+ overnight (8 hours) - no errors. Test ran with both sticks connected to the PC. I tried playing the game with only one ram stick connected - I get the same crash - I tried both sticks for that.

I've monitored CPU and GPU temperatures (with MSI afterburner) during gameplay - nothing to worry about.

I didn't get any crashes from other games I play so far.

Hi Pepino,

not BSOD expert, but had a quick look.

Seems to be a problem with that new Ramstick, dont think its picking it up.
They should really be matching pairs, or the slot configuration is wrong have a look at the motherboard details ram SLOT setup details

There's not much in the manual that would help me - mobo has only two slots for memory and I've bought the same "name" of the stick I have. It looks a little bit different but it has the same specs and it seems to work fine - I also play Kerbal Space Program and the load times with two sticks installed are noticeably faster. It also shows up in bios / hwinfo, etc.

Like I noted - i tried playing Witcher 3 with either stick installed by itself and both gave me the same BSOD. Sometimes just after startup of the game, sometimes after 10-30 minutes.

I think I found the culprit. I used the WhoCrashed to check crash dump files, one of them suggested something is wrong with my GPU drivers / software so I used the Display Driver Uninstaller and installed them again. Played the game for a couple of hours now without problems.
