Hello there, xJaMeSeY.

500 pounds won't make a huge gaming rig but let me see what i can do.

CPU: AMD ADX640WFGMBOX Athlon II X4 640 - 3.0 Ghz AM3 CPU, Retail Packaged: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories (72.41£)

Motherboard: Asus M5A87 Motherboard: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories (69.99£)

HDD: Western Digital WD1002FAEX Caviar Black 1 TB 7200 RPM Internal Hard Disk Drive: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories (64.66£)

RAM: G-Skill 8GBXL Ripjaws X for Intel Sandybridge Platforms DDR3 PC12800 1600MHz 8GB Kit: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories (36.52£)

Video: XFX Radeon HD 6770 - Graphics adapter - Radeon HD 6770 - PCI Express 2.1 x16 - 1 GB GDDR5 - DVI, HDMI: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories (89.00£)

PSU: Corsair CMPSU-650TXV2UK Enthusiast Series TX650 V2 High Performance 650W Power Supply: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories (63.68£)

Case: Thermaltake V3 Black Edition Chassis with Window/Blue LED Fan/Midi Tower: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories (36.72£)

TOTAL: 432.98£

Based on the spare money to spend, you could think about a HD6850 or a Phenom II X4 955/965.

The rest is OK! :)

EDIT:

Video: Asus 1GB Radeon HD 6850 DirectCU PCI-E 2: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories (136.23£)

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Quad-Core Processor - 3.20 GHz,8MB Cache,Socket AM3,125W,45 nm,3 Year Warranty,Retail Boxed: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories (92.91£)

TOTAL: 500.71£

I'd personally go with the Phenom II X4 and the HD6850! is not too much of a difference in price but a huge difference in performance :)

Cheers :geek:

It's OK, as long as the RAM is listed for your Motherboard model/brand, it's the Frequencies and Timings that your motherboard supports and the voltage is correct. There are no problems.

That's just a Marketing strategy. "Designed for Intel Sandybridge platforms", it works on other platforms without problems.

Check out the changes i made, i managed to squeeze the 500£ budget at max :geek:

Don't worry, mate.

That's why we're here for.

Keep us updated about the new build, pics too. :D

Cheers :geek:

EDIT:

I completely forgot about an optical drive :o

Here: LG GH22NS70.AUAA 22x DVD-RW SATA - Black Bare: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories (17.15£)

At least is not expensive. Sorry about that :o:geek:

ill probably go for the weaker processor and video card i heard its still fine and would you recommend me to get 2 hard drives one for normal and one for recording ? thanks?

2 HDDs? depends, if you're planning to do a lot of recording, yes.

If not, then a 1TB one should be enough.

If i were you, i'd sacrifice a little bit more on the processor side and a little less on the Video Card side, but since you're not a hardcore gamer and you want to record/edit your Minecraft videos, then i'd suggest this:

Go with the Phenom II X4 955 and stick with the HD 6770. Because video editing/encoding needs a lot of processor power. If you stick with the Athlon II X4 640 you'll have less power to encode/edit videos.

You could add a 2nd hard drive only if necessary, if you really think that you'll need it.

Cheers :geek:

Hi, Here is one setup which would be classed at mid range for gaming-

Case Antec 100 £44.57p
Mobo Asus P8P67 Pro £121.51
i5 2500k £160
8GB G.Skill RipJaws X 1600mhz DDR3 ram £58.39
GTX 560ti £170
Corsair Enthusiast Series TX750M PSU £94.30
Be Quiet Dark Rock Advanced CPU cooler £39.95
1TB Sanmsung Spinpoint HDD £40.20
LG DVD-RW optical drive £14.22

That comes to a total of £573.14p

Which leaves plenty left for options such as a SSD or new monitor.

I have proberly missed something but that should be a pretty well rounded system.

All the prices were from aria.co.uk

Cheers

Paul.

I have no experience of minecraft but with all the cod games and battlefield it should play at max settings.

Another option if you are not bothered about getting a SSD or monitor would be to spend the extra cash on a slightly more powerful PSU , an i7 2600k and then getting a GTX570 the addition cost for all 3 would be around £200

Probably cant go for them both together should i stay with the i5 and go with the graphics card or got with the i7 and go with the cheaper card

Graphics card I would say.

You won't really notice any difference in the processor.
