Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and would greatly appreciate some help.

I am having issues with BSOD and I know that I need to supply you with the dump file. The problem is that they are not being written. They used to be, but not anymore.

I have already enable them and have these settings on (in picture). It's very difficult to find out what is giving me BSOD without the dump :-(

Thanks in advance guys!

Sometimes if the crash is hard enough or fast enough the system doesnt have time to generate the dump file
It is possible there is nothing you can do about it. If you want to be proactive about finding your cause there is steps you can take but it will basically involve testing as much hardware as possible and disabling most startup programs/services etc updating drivers, removing bad siftware to see if the error stops

What info can you give us about the crashes
do they occur at cetain times ? are they related to a particular piece of hardware/software etc ?

You can still run the SF tool and upload the info files which will still help us advise you even if they dont have the all important dump files

Hi and welcome to the Forum. You should find your log in C:\Windows\Minidump if "C" is your root dive. I will request this Thread to be moved to BSOD help and Support Forum.

Sorry Pauly crossed due to my slow typing:o

OK before we start, you are running pirated software (adobe) we do need help encourage or support this so i would ask you remove it or you will not be offered continued support here

So we need to remove some unwanted programs, install some we do want, lighten up the startup, loose some non essential services and test some hardware, you can do this in any order but this where i would start as its the easiest

Programs - Remove these
Start Menu\Programs\ASUS
Start Menu\Programs\ASUS\AI Suite II
Start Menu\Programs\ASUS\ASUSUpdate
Start Menu\Programs\DAEMON Tools Lite

After removing daemon go here DuplexSecure - Downloads and download the tool for your windows (32 or 64 bit) run the tool and if the uninstall button is lit up click it

Startup/services - these can be changed back later if/when your resolve your issues
Click start and type msconfig>enter
select startup tab and untick everything except your anti virus program (which i dont see by the way)
select services tab and tick hide all MS services then untick everything thats left behind

I dont see an AV on your system, if you do have one (and its not MSSE) then remove it using a custom installer for it http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/78961-av-uninstallers.html and then install Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows update and run a full scan
then install MBAM Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware removes malware including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer update and run a full scan
be sure you do NOT start free pro trial when you are installing MBAM

When this is all done if you do not find any infections/virus/malware and your system is still crashing then i would move on to hardware tests
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html this needs to be run for multiple passes (best run overnight)
Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure

There are more hardware tests to do but these two are the main ones for now
Any issues/questions feel free to ask

:)

Thank you so much for your advice, Pauly! I removed ALL of the software you suggested. I am running the scans on MSE and MBAB right now. I will continue to use my comp and let you know if my comp crashes again, and also if it doesn't.

Thank you!

After trying all the things if it crashes again please run the tool and upload again and we can proceed with some other things, fingers crossed

It didn't BSOD, but it froze and became unresponsive... it's usually one or the other. What else can I do? This happens when my monitor goes black then turns back on. Then a message on the bottom says Nvidia kernal stopped working and has recovered. A few minutes later it freezes... everytime.

Thanks Pauly! I tried that already and it still didn't work. Good news though, maybe. I found a post where someone modified an inf file in the driver for 314.22 which allows it to be installed for an Nvidia gtx 780. I followed the instructions and it surprisingly allowed me to install.

I must say, it seems MUCH more stable. I have been rendering several images for about 5 hours so far and it seemed to have resolved many issues!

-No more "Nvidia display driver stopped and recovered"
-No more monitor shutting off
-No more computer becoming unresponsive
-No more 0x000000C5

I pray that it stays like this and I didn't just get really lucky. I don't want to mark this as resolved YET, but I will check in soon to let you know if it kept working stable.

For any of those who are struggling with this, which I know many are, try doing this:
