Can't Install Adobe AIR

No Joy

Still no luck I`m afraid. The problem lies with acrobat.com which when run always asks for AIR to be updated even tho it has been.

Thanks for trying to help. Maybe it`s not a real app. Maybe they`ve just released it as a joke because that is what it is. Sigh......

I'm in the same boat. I had to install AIR in order to run the Pandora Desktop app. The other day, I launched Pandora and a window popped up saying there was an AIR update. I tried to install but nothing happened.

I went to Adobe's web site and downloaded AIR 2 from there. Double clicked to launch the installer and, again, nothing.

Uninstalled old version of AIR and ran CCleaner. Same results. Tried to launch AIR installer and nothing.

Finally found an old version (1.5.3) of AIR and re-installed it without issue.

All is right with the universe except for the fact that I cannot upgrade to the latest version of AIR.

The forum threads on Adobe's web site dealing with this same issue are all dead ends as well.

HELP!

EDIT:

Just ran Adobe.com and, sure nuff, a window popped up requiring an AIR update. I clicked "OK" and it ran without a hitch...kinda. It didn't install AIR 2, it installed version 1.5.3.

My head hurts.

Okay I'm a lesser that mortal person. I did the Adobe update about a week ago and all of the Adobe programs work just fine including Air. 1. Remove all Adobe programs, (all of them.) I use Revo. When using Revo follow the instruction precise. Go to the Adobe site and down load them all with the latest update. Be careful and watch for add ons that they stick in there that you might not want. I have at times used Filehippo. This worked for me. If it doesn't work for you folks I have no next step.

This just keeps getting curiouser and curiouser.

Was just playing Pandora and, sure 'nuff, the AIR updater window appeared.

I clicked on update and it looked like the same old story. App disappeared and I thought it was going to be another no go.

However, while I was looking for a download of the Windows Installer Clean Up (not available from Microsoft anymore by the way) to rid AIR from my system, AIR 2 just decided to go ahead and install!

So, maybe we are all being inpatient? Maybe it takes awhile longer for things to catch? I dunno. It took like 15 minutes while I was rooting around the web for Windows Installer Clean Up Utility then, BAM, AIR 2!

The grass is always greener...

No WAY! Thanks for the inspiring words Bug but despite my almost god-like powers
of patience it in no way, shape or form will do the same for me.

Maybe....

If only there was a maybe. I`m stuck down a dark, dead end with no batteries in my torch. It sure is lonely here. Has everybody else got it working now then??

Am I the only one left??

Can anybody hear me..................?

Hi All,

Just to follow up I had this issue and basically I just opened regedit and searched "Adobe AIR" and deleted all entries except for the ones referring to the AIR debugger, which is part of my Flash CS5 Installation. Hope this helps out.

In case anyone is still having trouble installing the latest version of Adobe Air, this is what I did and it worked. This is after I tried every solution I could find to no avail. I decided to get Adobe Air installed through a third party install. I used Ninite.com
Go to ninite.com, select Adobe Air and click "Get Installer" on the bottom of the page, run the installer and Adobe Air should install! Hope this will help somebody, worked for me!!

I am troubled by this problem a long time.
Here are things I have done to try to fix the problem::)

1) Uninstalled
2) Used Windows Installer Cleanup
3) Used CCleaner registry cleaner to remove all traces of Adobe AIR
4) Deleted "Adobe AIR" folder in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files" path
5) Installed with administrator privileges

Guys, I know this is an old thread but still comes to the top of the results when searching in google reagrding issues installing Adobe air and the resolution does not seem to be out there on the WWW.

Within windows 7 in order to install Adobe Air you need to do a silent install, so copy the AdobeAIRInstaller.exe locally for quick sakes and assuming you have admin rights to the machine, at the command prompt type the following:

adobeairinstaller.exe -silent

Hi guys, i've found solution.
Remove from registry keys for adobe air:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Compatibility Assistant\Persisted

What worked for me....

This thread is one of the top items returned in a Google search, so I'm adding my solution here in hopes others can be spared the misery of Adobe Air install problems. Windows 7 64 bit; just did a clean install and am reloading programs. Current version of Air would not install, I kept getting this in the install log: (user name changed to protect the innocent)

[2012-10-01:11:18:35] Runtime Installer begin with version 3.4.0.2540 on Windows XP x86
[2012-10-01:11:18:35] Commandline is:
[2012-10-01:11:18:35] No installed runtime detected
[2012-10-01:11:18:43] Starting runtime install. Installing runtime version 3.4.0.2540
[2012-10-01:11:18:43] Installing msi at c:\users\XXX\appdata\local\temp\airc667.tmp\setup.msi with guid {14DC0059-00F1-4F62-BD1A-AB23CD51A95E}
[2012-10-01:11:18:44] Error occurred during msi install operation; beginning rollback: [ErrorEvent type="error" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="2" errorID=0]
[2012-10-01:11:18:44] Rolling back install of c:\users\XXX\appdata\local\temp\airc667.tmp\setup.msi
[2012-10-01:11:18:44] Rollback complete
[2012-10-01:11:18:44] Exiting due to error: [ErrorEvent type="error" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="2" errorID=0]
[2012-10-01:11:18:54] Runtime Installer end with exit code 7

I deleted all references and remnants of the program from the hard drive, including deleting the registry key as posted earlier in this thread without any improvement. (BTW, CC Cleaner does not find and eliminate that key.) But then I tried it all again AND changed permissions for c:\users\XXX\appdata\local\temp\ so that SYSTEM had full permissions. Previously SYSTEM had none. Air installed flawlessly after that.

Hope this helps someone.

Welcome to the Windows 7 Forum. I don't understand how System lost its permission. The only thing I can think of is that the UAC was not administrator.

Layback Bear: That fix has worked for me on two separate Win 7 installs, both with a single user/admin. It is odd that SYSTEM had no permissions for that folder. I have the bad habit of "taking ownership" of folders willy-nilly when something doesn't work, and I can't remember whether I did so for this folder or was always owner. But taking ownership shouldn't remove existing permissions for SYSTEM should it?

I don't really know because I have never tried. You had it happen on two different installs so I'm guessing that it does.
