Can't Load Certain Websites

Hey guys. I have had my new computer for 2 weeks and already have run into a problem. Certain websites all of a sudden will not load in any browser. Some websites work fine, and my computer still seems to be very fast, however other sites will not load. Also certain photos in facebook and other sites will not load. I have no antivirus program or anything like that, and am not very tech savvy so I could use some help. Need to get this fixed ASAP as I work full time on my comp.

FIRST, BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE GET AN ANTIVIRUS AND MALWARE APP.

free ones include Microsoft security essentials, AVG, etc.

For malware get Malwarebytes or Super Anti Spyware, both free.


What sites dont load??

It is a ton of sites.

cnn.com
foxnews.com
msn.com

I just tried a few popular ones and not one worked. Many other sites do not work either.

What is a good antivirus software to get? I am willing to spend money. Need one that won't impact my computer speed too much.

This website will not load either lol.

I should note that sites dont load in Chrome, IE, or Firefox.

I couldn't agree more with ZZ - get your self a FREE anti-virus program installed immediately.

Try this : Microsoft Security Essentials

Install it, and then do a full scan of your entire PC.

Your problems may be as a result of no Security Protection.
That should be corrected immediately.
Then your other problem{s} could be addressed

Read about Microsoft Security Essentials.
It is free.
Download & install it.
Update the definitions & do a full system scan.

Oh dear, you do have a problem.

You mentioned you don't have any anti-virus software so I suspect malware could be the culprit.

If you can, download Malwarebytes and run a full anti-virus scan in Safe Mode.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a freebie from Microsoft and well worth downloading.

...and when the excellent advice above has been done, maybe you are missing a flash installation? Many sites have Flash items implemented and that can be downloaded from Adobe.com

Just finished the scan. No threats detected. Running malwarebytes now. Funny thing is the problem has seemed to vanish. I can access all of those websites now.

It's quite possible you hadn't got Adobe Flash Player installed, which is essential for many web pages' video and graphics to work properly.

If you check in Control Panel>Programs>Uninstall Programs you'll see whether Flash Player has been downloaded and installed. If not, you can download it here: Adobe Flash Player - Downloads

Just woke up and now I have a more serious problem. When I start up my computer, the desktop loads but it wont let me do anything. The bar at the bottom of the screen wont load fully and whenever I try to click the start icon, it wont let me. Nor will it let me open any program. The cursor seems to be loading and will never complete. Basically I cannot open anything.

Do you have a Windows DVD or a boot disk and if so can you get into Safe Mode?

If so, a full anti-virus scan is called for, I feel.

Having a Windows DVD is not entirely related to the ability to go in to SafeMode. Please try SafeMode via F8 first, inserting the DVD may cause you to reinstall Windows, and I am not sure you want to do that right yet.
