I've tried uploading some files to my dropbox account , the small ones (under 1 mb) went ok but when i tried to upload a 5 mb file the upload process went really fast and i got an error saying "Upload failed". Then i thought something is wrong with dropbox.. went to my gmail account, same thing, upload process went really fast and i got an error saying "Upload failed". Tried a web upload site, same thing! (im dual booting with xp) tried my xp us with dropbox and gmail and everything is fine.
Diagnose & Repair function in 7 didn't helped.
I've also noticed that when it happens in my Windows 7 system my surfing turns really slow and i need to restart my machine to get it back to normal .

Thanks for the help... i really don't have a clue what can cause such a thing.

I am curious what a dropbox account is. I am personally using Filezilla for any uploading needs and it works like a charm.

google dropbox.. but its nor really relevant, it happens when i try to upload a movie to youtube.

^ I'm really sorry for the bumps but i can't edit my last post. I just figured out something really interesting, apparently Windows 7 doesn't cap my upload rate. I've downloaded Netlimiter and limited my upload to 32 Kb (my original upload rate) , when i do that everything is working fine but if i remove the limitation when i try to upload something im getting a burst of 100 Mb or so. (with null packets im guessing..) and that's what causing the upload to fail

I hope that will shade more light on that weird problem

I am encountering the exact same problem, however I have a temporary fix that works for me.

Just boot up your computer and bring up the boot menu (hold F8 during bootup) and then select "Safe Mode With Networking" from the menu. This will load Windows in safe mode with minimal drivers. It doesn't look pretty, but you'll be able to get online to upload those big files. Once you're done, just reboot as normal.

Hope that helps.

i have the exact same problem. and i happen to have two different computers, my built AMD system with 64 bit Windows 7 and a Dell Inspiron 1525 with 32 bit version. both give me the same problem when uploading to youtube, imageshack, and other upload sites. they just don't finish. I tried in another computer with WinXP in the same network and it worked fine. also then tried in my Windows 7 64 bit system with Safe Mode and it uploaded to imageshack.

weird problem. i only have avira antivir, no other protection software or firewall.

also, this happens in IE, firefox and google chrome.

after allot of tries i came to the conclusion that Nod32 was the responsible for my problems. Uninstalled it and now i can upload normally.

well, not in my case. i still get the problem, and the only way i can upload is using Windows XP mode, becaue now not even safe mode works.

Do you have any security software installed?

I use NOD32 and have the same problem. I can upload files less than about half a meg anywhere but anything over that and they fail - these are uploads of files, pictures (eBay, Facebook, Twitpic etc), or anything that goes through a browser - same problem on IE8, Firefox 3.6 etc.

I disabled NOD32 and it made no difference too. Even an upload via www.speedtest.net fails!

Update - I've resolved the issue. If you right-click your NOD32 icon in the system tray and select "Advanced Settings", then uncheck "Enable HTTP checking" in "Advanced Setup -> Web access protection -> HTTP, HTTPS" - issue has gone away.

The same sort of rule may apply to other AV / Firewall products?

I have more or less the same problem but i am not using NOD32 at all.
Last time i want to upload an attachment with Google Mail, the Upload failed at all.
Screen snapshot tools with auto upload function to to the web don´t work anymore.
Any final solution for this? Havent had any problems with W7 for "ages".

If it worked previously, and it doesn't work now, I would start by checking your system for any type of virus/trojan/malware. If it is clean, then I would look at the security software you have installed to see if anything has changed in the settings.

Can you upload any files to any website?

Nope, i wasnt able to upload. Neither a snapshot with my snapshot-tool nor any otherfile and here is WHY:

In Google Chrome i set individual proxy settings which (now fasten seatbelts!) were used by Firefox ! even though i chose NOT to use any proxy settings in Firefox. These
system-wide proxy settings were used by Google Mail etc. and any other tool i am using. Sounds dull, but this is the solution: Disable any proxy in any tool thats using proxy and u are all set. Hope this was of any help.

Since beginning of july my laptop won't allow me to upload anything online to sites like facebook, youtube, attach files to emails and other websites. upload link gif keeps on rotating but doesnt go above 1%. It seems I can't send files through an instant messenger, either, so I know it's not a problem with my browser. i can browse sites and play/watch videos & also download.
I've checked Windows Firewall's advanced settings, and outbound connections are allowed, and all the rules that would say anything isn't allowed don't have anything to do with files to websites. i scanned my pc for viruses using avira antivirus and also malware bytes anti malware. also scanned and fixed registry usingCcleaner. finally did a system restore.
im using google chrome. tried on mozilla firefox & internet explorer-9 but same result. did a reset as well. my OS is windows 7.
Also I've tried turning off the antivirus & also firewall for public networks. that doesn't help either.
i did an ipconfig test and the results are as below-

Create a new user and try uploading with that one. Also, completely uninstall your security software/antiivirus applications, then install Microsoft Security Essentials and use that until you've figured out the problem.

this is meant for KarlSnoops where I asked for scannow and then Startup slow.
this is the first file he wants to see. I do not know how to upload when I am in windowssevenforum and want to reply to Karl. Sorry. I printed out the very complex instructions, but so far no luck.
I STILL cannot upload. I went to the paperclip. then to the file "startup.txt" I selected it. Then Upload. But I see nothing attached to this quick reply.
I have no problems with MSWord or Windows Live Mail to attch or insert anything, but this here must have designed by anther Karl, last name EINSTEIN>!!!
