Computer freezes and screen turns black

Hello all

Just got myself this (old) new computer, that I was going to use for a media center. But it randomly crashes, and i can't seem to figure out why. I formated it yesterday, so I doubt it would be a virus.

Sometimes it goes black, and picture returns within a few seconds, but other times it freezes up completely. When I restart it (with the power button) I cant get pasted the BIOS screen, but if I unplug the power supply, and hit the power button a few times and then plug in the power, it starts up like normal. (does that make it a RAM issue?)

Freezes have happened doing the following: Using XBMC (both in menus and while watching a video), while Internet Download Manager was running. While file transfer was running, and a few times while i wasnt at the computer.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64
ATI Radeon HD 5670
Intel Core i3 CPU
6GB RAM
Phillips TV (Connected with HDMI)

The problems you describe typically mean hardware problems. Please follow the http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/96879-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html to provide us with your system logs and application logs. Those can help to find software conflicts, system errors, application errors, and sometimes point to hardware problems, as well. You do not have to be getting a blue screen crash for those to help us determine the cause of your problems.

Not all the information was provided, but there is enough to reach a conclusion: I am afraid your installation is not genuine. Non-Genuine Windows contains security leaks and also cannot be properly updated which may result in instabilities and blue screen crashes. If you were not aware that your Windows was Non-Genuine, contact your seller or the company that provided the seller and file a complaint. Also let Microsoft know of the problem.
