I find it fascinating that my core i7 can play a 10gig 1080p mkv file and have a cpu load of 1%.

Meanwhile on my old Pentium 4 3.2ghz processor the file will bring the cpu down to it knees?

even your old P4 should play HD content fine. does your video player use DXVA?
