Just to clarify.
From a 'fresh' install?
Or a re-image? This is when you have used a backup.

Did your machine originally come with XP? What are your system specs? If your computer meets the minimum specs to run Windows 7 you could experience high CPU usage as well as slow performance in other areas.

Your choice of antivirus, other CPU or RAM intensive programs, etc could also have an effect as Windows 7 tries to "learn" and eventually manage your resources. To see how your resources are being allocated you could open the Resource Monitor from Task Manager or run a free program called Process Monitor by clicking the Run Process Monitor Now link at the bottom of their page.

Install Process explorer to drill down into those svchost services to find out which one is hogging your CPU, then google to find the solution which will likely NOT be turning it off.

At the same time work through the logs and System resources given here to find additional clues: troubleshooting steps

This will familarize you with basic troubleshooting and the specialty of tracing processes which is invaluable.

If you decide to give up, consider following these steps to get a baseline Perfect Reinstall

Please supply your System Specs in bottom left corner of post as they may apply.

I have updated my system spec

From your system specs it looks like you're on the low end for RAM and hard drive. If you have 1280MB RAM I'm guessing your machine came with 256MB installed and you added another gig (1024MB) somewehres along the line for a total of 1280MB. Most people suggest 2GB (2048MB) for Windows 7. If your hard drive is only 40GB it's possible that your low RAM is forcing some programs to use virtual memory (a portion of your hard drive that is set aside to compensate for low RAM.) RAM is "electrical" and the hard drive is "mechanical". Mechanical is slower than electrical and more resources have to be used (like higher CPU.)

put simply..you cannot use windows 7 with less than 2gb of ram.

^ I agree. Unless you are using Windows 7 Starter for basic computing.

These days, 4GB of RAM is generally recommended for new Windows 7 PCs. Although around 2-3GB of RAM and a discrete GFX card usually gets the job done.

I can't see the first page as it crashes my phone app lol, but after reading the second page I'm going to say bad driver/incompatible with 7.

If you have 1256mb ram it means you've one 1gb and one 256mb, so its a rather old machine, and as older models with lower specs won't support 7 developers won't make drivers that do work
