Hello, I installed windows 7 64bit pro fresh on a ssd and reading about how you shouldnt read and write all the time to a ssd overreacted and put all my documents on d drive. I used my document properties to do this. After a while I realised my error of doing this and tried to put them back on c drive. It did not work, now my documents and other folders are not there.

I tried to recreate them following the folder tree on another win 7 pc, but of course my, and I think they are called symbolic links are gone, and every program seems to want to put stuff in pictures folder. So I can live with this I say and be careful to where I save stuff. I now notice I have TEST sub folder in USERS with heaps of stuff in it, and from searching google there seems to be a connection between this folder and me moving my documents?

Is there a fix for my messup?
Thank you for looking

You should create backup images of your drives/partitions.

Thanks for the link about restoring folders, ill give it a go. So far as drive imaging, I'm paranoid about backup and have ample backups, trouble is things have changed quite a bit on this machine since I messed the folders up. Can' simply go back to a time before the mess.

I just meant that you should back up your personal files, whilst you are trying to solve your folder issue (they might get damaged/deleted). :)

Ok Ive tried to restore my folders back to their default locations, and looks ok. How can I get rid of the Test user? Yes Ive backed it up.

When I go to user accounts there is only me and guest (off)

Sorry everyone, went to user accounts again, on the left pane selected "configure advanced user profile properties" and bingo here is an "unknown account" listed. Zapped it and no more "test" user.
