Hello,

McAfee is famous for these kind of Errors. Try to uninstall it and use the Cleanup tool and make sure to remove all the left over entries. http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507 then reboot the System.

Thanks, Capt.Jack. Unfortunately the McAfee link isn't working and the removal tool is an exe so let's hope after the uninstall exe's will work again. You need to follow Corrines' advice.... its the quickest solution to your problem... should that not resolve it, then back up your data and do a format/reinstall... keep us posted...

I would try it but I'll just wait for my dad to come home and check on it. Usually the problem I could fix is easier but this one gave me a 'Wtf is this' expression xD. So thanks guys and I if my dad can't fix it then we'll just system restore it. Thanks guys for all your help.

Use free Mirosoft Security Essentials once you can install it.

Check the integrity of System Files: in Start Search box type CMD, rightclick result to Run as Admin, type sfc /scannow.

Do you have a Win7 installer to run the http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html?ltr=R?

If that fails, then you'll need to wipe the HD before booting the installer to reinstall.

On SF, we agree using Registry Cleaners is dangerous and certainly not recommended.

It usually causes more harm than good. Let's stick with other methods for now.

Very rarely effective. I have seen countless people who have had major problems because of them. Everything from BSODs, to can't boot.

Please refrain from recommending them here.

I disagree that the CCleaner Registry tab is problematic.

Lumping state-of-the-art CCleaner in with the Registry cleaner sales scam operations is disparaging one of the great genius apps, which many of us have over 10+ years watched perfected to a T and which sets the standard for HD cleaners.

However, I understand why the warnings tend to be dire in this area since some of the sales scam Registry cleaners you see advertised in countless web ads (on legit sites, too) will infect as well as corrupt your Registry.

Just my opinion, based on hundreds of installs over 10+ years with nary an issue. Used monthly, CCleaner "Run CLeaner" and Registry tab followed by Auslogics Disk and Registry defraggers always keep my installs running perfectly.
