Hello,

Recently ran a farbar service scanner after reading about it's properties and I had a question about the connection status, I'm not having any problems connecting to the internet, so it could be nothing to worry about but here is the connection log:

Connection Status:
==============
Localhost is accessible.
LAN connected.
Attempt to access Google IP returned error. Other errors
Attempt to access Google.com returned error: Other errors
Attempt to access Yahoo IP returned error. Other errors
Attempt to access Yahoo.com returned error: Other errors

The Errors part has me concerned, but again I'm not sure if that's b/c of my security or it there may be a problem. Here is the rest of the log, which all boxes were checked for the scan:

Thanks for any insight!

no.

I was wondering if it might be windows firewall, as I have it set for no outgoing connections could that be an issue?

bberkey,

Connection Status:
==============
Localhost is accessible.
LAN connected.
Attempt to access Google IP returned error. Other errors
etc.

I think what you are looking at is an 'error' which is uncategorized, but not necessarily a 'problem'.
It is something that would be further researched with other tools, if the Connection Status was not accessible, etc., or other problems were perceived.

From the looks of your FSS report, it is not reporting a service with problems.
Windows Defender is more than likely disabled by some other program you are running.

The Windows Firewall set for no outgoing connections could be the cause of the 'errors', though.

I have asked the developer of FSS about the error issue, and will let you know if there is something other at play than what I have said above.

wow, thank you for your time cottonball, much appreciated. I do have defender disabled, but remembered I checked the box so perhaps that could play into it.

My pleasure, bberkey1!

May I ask, what led you to running the Farbar Service Scanner program?

Are you having some sort of problem, or are you just trying to improve your learning curve,
like the rest of us? :D

I read a post of yours a little while back trying to diagnosis someones connection problem, so I looked into the program and wished to learn a little more about it and it's abilities. So yes trying to improve my knowledge, as I have down ten fold since joining this board.

Hi Cottonball sorry about the confusion I didn't mean to leave anyone in the dark so I put this back to our conversation.

Just wanted to thank you again for your advice and wanted to ask about any other programs that may be worth learning about? I'm currently running:

AVAST
Malwarebytes
Super- anti spyware
CC Cleaner with the enhancer
TDSSkiller
EMET

I also have used and learned a lot recently about:

System File Check (SFC)
Microsoft Malicious software removal tool
Microsoft Safety Scanner

Finally I have looked into both the farbar and rougekiller, but I'm always looking to keep my computer safe and updated with interesting programs

TDSSKiller, RogueKiller, and the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool are not for everyday use.

These programs diagnose and repair malware, and, unless you are trained in their use, and have access to communicate with their developers, you can make a big paperweight out of your computer! Even if you are trained in their use, they change so fast, sometimes you can barely keep up.

If you are really interested in malware removal, there are schools that will train you.
The practicum to become a malware advisor becomes increasingly difficult, and in some schools, you need to pass a test.

It is the heck of a challenge. :D

Great info. I'm only running my anti-virus and EMET in real time and I run Malwarebytes and Super antispyware and CCleaner pretty often.

I ran the TDSSkiller once to see what it was about as well as the farbar, but not the rouge killer. I'll be sure to use them when only directed. I've been pretty squeaky clean with the Avast/firewall/emert/spywares/ccleaner combination that I have going now. So ill be sure not to get too carried away.
