Four nits I could use some dialog on…..

I’ve recently rehabbed a couple of systems, and have run into a few minor nits. None are mission-critical, but I’m irked by then anyway.

In no order…..All have new clean installations of Win 7 Ultimate

On one of the systems, the toggle key alert tones no longer sound. They were sporadic for a while, and now are just gone. Anyone have any ideas?

I use Stoic-Joker’s T-Clock instead of the boring system clock in the task bar. On ONE of three new systems the PM time always displays as military time. I can’t determine how to change it. It’s not a fault in T-Clock ‘cause I have them set up identically on all three systems and only one fails. Thoughts?

On all three systems, when opening a folder with Windows Explorer, it seems like the system is “searching” for something, and a grey progress bar crawls across the top of the panel. It’s gotta be a setting I’m missing, as it doesn’t do this on any of the other four system in my home – all running Win 7 Enterprise.

Lastly, on one of the three systems, I’m unable to set the “picture location” for the wallpaper changer. I can toggle between the “Windows Desktop Backgrounds and “Solid Colors”, but any attempt to browse to a new directory location fails. I can browse to it – it just won’t take! This one REALLY irritates me.

In the grand scheme of things, none of these things really matter. That won’t detract from my gratitude for any and all advice or solutions offered.

Thanks for your time.

Some possibilities:

The time format is controlled by one of the control panel applets. Maybe it's set to military.

You could uninstall T-Clock and see if the problem is with Windows itself.

The other two problems sound like permissions, one in the filesystem, one in the registry. The easiest way to check/repair that is with a tool like tweaking.com. This actually could be the key to the other two problems as well. Make sure you create a restore point before you change any permissions.
