GTA 4 and windows 7

I don't know how you guys managed to do this.

I have windows 7 and I just got GTA 4 today, installed that Social Club thing, then went I got to the actual GTA installation it said that it isn't compatible with %p which I took as isn't compatible with windows 7

I have noticed that you guys somehow installed vcredist_x86 and xliveredist .. how? everytime i run it it crashes or if i put any different compability mode it doesn't even load and gives me "windows installer has stopped working"

I tried logging into safemode and launching it.. it didn't exactly gave me that error but didn't install it either ..

any help would be greatly appritiated.

Did you install Gta 4 itself under XP in the troubleshoot compatability? That will fix the %p problem to start with.

it doesnt install.. at all.. if i put it into compability mode the windows installer crashes

In 7 there is new a installation 'Toubleshoot compatability' mode. This is different to 'Run as'.

Use the troubleshoot on the setup.exe

You have used Orbit30's Patch haven't you, if so you will break lots of features including compatibility mode.

Well you can try the uninstaller on the patch or a system restore to take it back to the date before you patched it and one other thing leave the watermark alone!

except.. if i uninstall my patch.. how am i supposed to "activate" my windows within the amount of timed required lol

and what does the watermark have to do with anything? ;s ;o

If you have the latest build 7000, which is the public beta then you should have received a key to activate it, and if you didn't then you will have to go here to get your key.

hmm i got the cdkey lol but my windows is already activated ;o btwn .. is the beta "windows 7 ultimate"? ;o cuz thats what i have lol.. and if it is is there a way i can "Reactivate" my windows with the key they gave me? ;o

and also u know the "Feedback" everywhere -,- can i ATLEAST remove that part? ;o.. or like the thing at the bottom right corner? why do we need that

you can remove send feedback easily from the registry but don't try and remove the watermark because that is what breaks it because you are modifying a system file user32.dll and as far as you saying that it's activated, well it's not, it's a hack and you would be better off reinstalling windows and starting fresh with an official Key.

i dont wanna use that orbit30 **** at ALL ;o so im trying to avoid any use of it
