Here's my BSOD problem :)

Hi... Ah well, I'm definitely having a problem with my Win 7 laptop since last Thursday. I have SP1 in there, it's around a year and a half old, I have never added any hardware, and the only things software wise that happened last week that I remember is Adobe Air/Tweetdeck updates (but I switched back to the last version), AVG I imagine updated a couple times, do not think Win actually updated. I do AdAware, Spybot, Malwarebytes at least once a week, and CCleaner for certain things nightly. Oh, and it's an HP. Any other details you need, just let me know.

Anyway, last Thursday I was moving about normally when in the middle of my surfing the thing just made a musical noise and shutoff. I don't remember the exact sequence of events now, but eventually I did have the thing on all afternoon and I figured, okay, all's well again. Friday, after a few hours on, I got a BSOD, where all I could get was 0x0000001E, and the numbers after in the () were all zeros. That was the last blue screen (until today), but that day there was a few episodes of freezing up.

I think Saturday I decided to try not using Tweetdeck for the hell of it since that was the only major change I knew of for the week, but that didn't matter and I had some more freezing up.

Sunday and Monday were okay, because what I did was basically only have one internet tab open, had Tweetdeck, but bascially avoid most video. And I would shut it off for a few minutes every couple hours (thinking, well, what if it's overheating all of a sudden). Oh, and a stupid, but hey, why not try it, didn't plug in the mouse.

It was okay until today, it's been on for a couple hours, still doing what has apparently been working, I got two screens - the first only had two lines, but I could only catch the first one which said hardware failure, and then it switched to a much longer one, where the 0x's where definitely not all zeroes like before.

I had at the CNET forum just the dmp file info because when I first tried looking for help from google, I saw a mention of a program called BlueScreenView and had the info from that file, but I saw here the diagnostic tool, so hopefully everything I clicked on work and it's all in there. And given the day I'm having, sure hope the thing attached.

So, yeah, please help! And thanks for reading.

Oh, sorry about that -- I have such a headache from this, that I thought the rest of the page was the instructions for the program. Will try all that now.

Okay, think I got it - it wouldn't work or be switched over in safe mode, so took the chance I could get it in regular bootup, and hopefully I did, since it didn't match the instructions exactly. Will attempt the SFC thing now...

Oh, and just in case I didn't mention all of it above -- 64 bit Home Premium, the computer and the OS are both ~ 1.5 years old, no upgrading any OS, this is what came with it.

And the results of the scan, I stuck with verify only for now... and it says did not find any integrity violations. That sounds good... too bad something's still probably wrong with it though... :)

Hello Lois, you must be having a hard time... I still dont'see an upload of full info as in the instructions: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/96879-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

Please read that step by step, follow it and get back to us with any questions in case you're not sure how to proceed.

Meanwhile, check your disks. Do a Chckdsk: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html

Your log quotes problems on your disk, so it's good to check. How much free space do you have on the disk (in absolute numbers and % please)

Good luck:)

I did a disk check when this started, so I guess I'll have to do that tomorrow, but as for the rest, I checked the instructions again, and it sure looks like I hit all the points, just obviously because I didn't think to wait until I went through them all, I ended up with a few extra postings. If I missed something, then I'm really not seeing it, so could you point it out to me?

Here is an updated set after the recent BSOD - this one simply said something like Hardware Failure, Contact the Vendor, system was halted. Something like that. All I did was just got done with Spybot, and only had Tweetdeck open at the same time. Basically been avoiding doing more than one thing at a time. And I don't know if they work differently in safe mode vs regular mode, but there seems to be two programs here for the info gathering. I downloaded it from the page again today, and it definitely was different, the other I used the first time had 6, maybe buttons that I had to click myself separately. If they didn't change in a week, then I'm not sure how I got two, but somehow, I did. But that's just me.

This might be a stupid question, but does it matter that I basically never use IE since this article is in reference to resetting IE settings?

Well, last night I did do it... but I'm just waiting and seeing, because I haven't gotten a BS every day, that was every few days maybe, but would freeze up more. But it did fix a problem with IE -- while I basically do not use it, I did upgrade it to 9 when I saw it released, and then had nothing but problems with it. I would just open it and let it sit there for maybe 30 seconds and it would crash. Tried going back to 8, and same thing. So figured, well, I don't actually use it, so forget it. Did open it yesterday and let it sit, and no messages. Probably should try using it a minute or two to actually see if it stays that way. But anyway, crossing my fingers that you hit on whatever was messing up my computer!

Okay, yeah, me again... I just got two BS's, the second as I was trying to get the program to get the info from the first... the first was just like the first one I got when this really started, with 0x0000001e, followed by the brackets with all zeroes. The second looked like it was cut off actually, but I got 0x0000003b (0x00000000c0000005, 0xfffff80002c8ac25, 0xffff88002 and that was it, no end bracket. I am trying to get the info you need, but I'm leaving it off for a little bit before getting myself to try again. I don't know if these numbers will help, but it's what I have right now. And of course, given they are long, I'm pretty sure, but can't be totally sure that I wrote them correctly. Sigh.

PS - what does it mean, if anything, that when you are trying to turn it on, within the first couple seconds of it being on, it shuts off, then turns on itself (kind of, at least the lights, if not the system), but the caps lock and number lock lights blink? When it's tough to get it up and going, that sometimes happens.

Okay, got the new versions of the info -- although, I'm guessing that the dump files or such, they overwrote the ones from the first BS and maybe from the second right after. I don't know, but not much I can do about it, I guess.
