Just a update here in that Microsoft via remote control have not been able to fix my problem so far with the updates for windows 7 only

vista and windows 8 and 10- are working normally

if i get any further info on this problem i will post back

my last updates were in march so whatever has gone wrong has nothing to do with the update agent as far as we know ?

Hi,
Just making sure KB3020369 & KB3172605 are installed has repeatedly worked :)

they cant install as the message being received is searching for updates and we need to address that concern before any work around :)
the main objective to this remote control exercise is a proper permanent fix if possible

Hi,
If installing either stalls it's usually because the update system is set at auto delayed start
This will interfere with the stand alone installer 100% of the time unless you stop the existing windows update service before attempting to manually install either update.

Well lets have a look at your system.
im sure the MS rep will have asked, but another set of eyes wont hurt.
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=52012
substitute SURT
http://www.sysnative.com/niemiro/apps/SFCFix.exe

and the latest dated WindowsUpdate log.

Copy/paste the details please.

i take it that sfc /scannow was clean?

Roy

i afraid my system has Microsoft nda within it and is strictly for Microsoft purposes only :zip:
but thanks for taking a interest roy

as i said above i need to find what is wrong and not what may be wrong or any sorts of workaround as we go no further forward if you look at things on that basis

sure it helps a few 'but for the vast majority of people worldwide' their system is just staying vulnerable without any updates being applied

most people wont have a clue worldwide that they even have a problem as their setting on the default automatic and that's not working

You can still run those requests and forward them to MS.

They already have all the information they need from the remote access to my computer. we now need to wait and see on how we move this major fault forward

Hi,
Sort of interesting MS has already stated the reason being windows updates have become fragmented
Pretty much why they have gone to rollup update releases

If a user has become "fragmented" when set on auto install updates good luck figuring that one out
It's good you're looking deeper but most would just move on to the manual fix which is easiest for anyone to do :)

we cant do even a Manuel fix 'as i say we need to find what has gone wrong' we cant just go on patching at will without getting to the bottom of what is is that's wrong

you have to remember that the vast majority of users worldwide are just like my wife who know nothing about forums or updates ' they just put their trust in the brand and go with that

if updates stop working and the roll up is the fix then a statement in the news be it on the tv or press will need to be made available so that the much wider public can implement them

At this time thou that roll up is not the answer for everyone and it is that in which i am trying to ascertain in order to go forward as to the underlying cause so that it can be corrected

Hi,
I applaud your vigilance

Thanks :)
it is a pain thou. In my personal view and the strength of the Microsoft engineer i'm with at this time via these remote control sessions' it going to take a long time to work our way through over 300 updates till the April of this year when the updating stopped my end

there is one update which i have flagged as a problem and that's the kb2952664 as it uninstalls and reinstall itself automatically on the reboot

i know what it's for but to have updates that cant uninstall is never a good thing ?
