Installation package could not be found

I am getting this <<This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer Package>>

Yesterday I clean uninstalled my photo editing programs, Photplus X4 and PanoramaPlus, which are similar to Adobe Elements. The reason was that certain pics would not display, although displayed elsewhere.

This morning my attempts to reinstall from the manufacturer's DVD Rom were unsuccessful with the above error.

Is anyone able to help me, please?

This could be as simple as a smudged DVD so try to clean it carefully (I use a drop of dish liquid or liquid hand soap and rinse with lots of water, then dry off with a lint free cloth in radial motions from the center outwards)

Or try to copy the install file to your desktop and try to run it from there (make sure you'll install it via "Run as Admin"

If you can open the install file with 7-zip and it still won't install, chances are the program misses certain software components that have been uninstalled/damaged earlier.

Thanks for advice.

I do not understand the bit about opening the install file with 7-zip. All the setup, app, dlls etc etc are on an installation ROM disk, so where does 7-zip come in? I have it on my system but can see no way for it to work.

I am beginning to think I have a larger problem as an audio CD dies not play, but sound is OK on such as Youtube down loads.

Is it possible that my error mentioned here may have damaged something in the CD DVD drive?

Have you tried right clicking the installer and choosing Run as administrator?

In the end nothing seemed to work and there were other unconnected oddities. I decided on a Windows repair, backing up, as I thought, to my WD Passport external drive. Unfortunately even though there when I closed down at night the files had vanished from the WD external.

So the delay in my reply is due to having to deep scan the drive to recover files incl this site's log in.
