Installation Problem ("System could not create a partition...")

Enter BIOS setup and look for HD listings, nearby should be SATA controller settings. Set to AHCI to try install.

What happened when you formatted the partiiton and marked Active as suggested earlier?

How about the RAM tests?

What happens when you run the installer from XP?

It is very discouraging to type these steps out again after you didn't bother replying the first time. Do you have a reading difficulty? We have a 100% install rate for those who cooperate and don't miss any steps.

very unusual for an xp machine to say that there are no problems.

Please put the system specs into your system specs. here is how:
Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (located on the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec
(left-hand column)

To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info

In the System Manufacturer Block, enter:
Ø Manufacturer and Model OR Custom build.
Ø ADD the word laptop, desktop, netbook or tablet.
For example:
Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES.

With Speccy, you can select with your mouse/touchpad info from the display
and paste that info into your specs.

SIW is a marvelous program, but the free version does not offer
this capability.

now your system specs will be present with each and everyone of your posts.

When I formatted the partition it either hung at "expanding windows files" or it gave me an error at the disk partition screen. The error read out "Set up was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system parttition".

I did 8 pass's on my RAM and no errors came up

When I run the installer from XP I get the same errors.

But did you mark the Partition Active first?

Is this an EFI BIOS? Look in BIOS setup if there is an EFI boot disk in BIOS boot order.

Ikahn,
Your memory is not on the ASUS QVL for your motherboard.

Hey, I have the problem with the install, but mine is a bit more complex. So I try to install win7/win8 to my macbook air, and so I have few partitions on my drive. I could try that F10+command line system, but if I do so I´ll format the whole drive? So how could I format only the partition 4 which is made for windows? I´ve been trying to install windows with this problem maybe for 12 hours and this the first forum/guide to help me even a bit.
thanks if you could give me advise.
