Intel P67 H67 Recall - impact on OEM 7 installations?
As I understand the most recent changes to OEM licensing rules - one Windows 7 to one MB identification (by serial number) only. What is the probability that Microsoft will support migration and re-activation of OEM Windows 7 to motherboards replaced under the Intel recall program or by warranty.
The P67 and H67 have been available since early January and on 31 January Intel announced a recall of the chipset with reported replacement of motherboards scheduled for April, which seems optimistic. This recall is likely to affect many OEM installs of Windows 7. What is the probability that Microsoft will support migration and re-activation of OEM Windows 7 to new motherboards replaced under the Intel recall program or by warranty.
As an aside - the replacement of Intel motherboards by Intel should be reasonably straightforward, but wondering already how Gigabyte, Asus, MSI are going to handle this problem.
