Latest Internet Explorer 9 Release

nice one, heh, heh..

you heard it here first, folks..!!

you can unlock the toolbars to move those little icons on the top right of the screen
I shoved mine over to the left - then re-locked it to keep them there.. :geek:

Kudos to MS for both Win7 and the IE beta 9 browser, they seem to have to have stopped making jerky, uncertain forward movements and taken a leap forward with both products.

Ap

p.s. I just opened IE b.9 and checked my bank account, seems I have more money than I thought... that's gotta be a good sign.

My installation stopped saying I need some updates. It also gave me this link.

How to solve Internet Explorer 9 installation problems

There are four Hotfix updates that are prerequisites that need to be installed (Method 3). It is suppose to do the updates during the install but mine failed. I think I will wait since this is my main system. I did update the Flash on IE-8 64bit and it works.

Word of advice if you are getting ready to install this beta...in Win 7 it replaces IE8 so you will stuck with IE9 beta until you uninstall it. It will have to be uninstalled in Control Panel>Programs and Features in the left column select "view installed updates" and go to the "microsoft windows" section and it will be listed there. Mine put IE8 back in tact as it was but did pop of that first use setup screen but all was already set the way I left it.

It looked decent but I prefer the favorites button on the left and no seperate search box? I really like the seperate search box. It wouldn't open Facebook or the Peackeeper browser benchmark and a few other various sites I tried to open from my favorites so I uninstalled it. Hopefully they will locate the bugs and work them out because it looks like it will be nice browser but when I try to several pages and none of them will load then there are issues to be dealt with. Will be looking forward to the final release.

There have always been a few sites that disable copy and paste. snopes.com is one that comes to mind quickly. Can't blame you, though, I'm stickin' with FF but I'll learn about IE9 and some of its intricacies for support purposes.

Ok guys I am having alot of trouble with IE9. First off my search suggestions in the address bar does not work at all. I can search but there is no drop down box. Secondly it seems I have trouble viewing pictures, videos and ads. Some forums that I frequently visit do not load well and get choppy and grey boxes appear. I downloaded the adobe flash "square" thing for 64 bit and am still having these problems. Does anyone know what I should do? Thanks

I am kind of in your same boat. I really really like Chrome and have not used IE in years. Was a strong FF user before Chrome came out. Think the last time I use IE was with IE7.

Anyways I will keep giving it a shot and I would consider switching if i really fall in love with it.

Well I had a major disrupt on restart after installation.

After bios a blue screen with writing popped on the screen but not on long enough to read and it went into another reboot.

When it came up the second time a screen opened to go into safe mode etc. or load Windows. I hit load Windows with my fingers crossed and the below in picture popped so I clicked search for solution. Nothing else came up.

I'm not sure what happened but I'm using the IE9 now off the tool bar icon. I'm not sure if it is 64 or 32bit.

Mike

Click the Gear on the upper right.

Then 'About Internet Explorer' , if it says '64 Bit Edition' after 'Version' that's the 64bit, if it doesn't then it's the 32bit version.

Both 32 bit and 64 bit versions are on your computer, just like IE8.

You can open the 64bit version from the start menu.

After surfing some news sites with IE9, I admit that I like it. The tiny bar at the bottom of the browser is a nice touch -- really makes me feel like I'm seeing more. :)

I dunno about that one. When I saw it an option at the bottom was present mentioning it wouldn't show itself unless an add-on presented a delay in excess of 0.2 seconds.

I guess you could enable, or install, a slow add-on and it'll come back. ;)

One thing I've noticed... everyone seems to be pleased that IE is using less vertical screen space (including me), but there still is further room to save.

I'm talking about the blank bar above the address/search bar and tabs. All it has is the minimise, maximise, and close buttons. Surely something could be done about that? Maybe move the address bar into that top row to give the tabs their own row again?

I guess it could be difficult because of the way Windows windows* work...

*- it does make sense!

I can't seem to find what some are really excited about. It seems a tad better than ie8 but not by much and considering the fanfare it arrived too I was expecting much more. It's finally heading in the right direction but it's still not up to scratch.
