Sometime in the coming days--perhaps even today--Microsoft will officially issue its near-final Release Candidate (RC) version of (IE) 9 to the public. But in the days (hours?) before that release, a so-called "escrow" build of the IE 9 RC has leaked onto file sharing sites. (Thanks to Tom Warren of WinRumors for the tip.) So here's a quick look at this release in anticipation of a wider review of the actual RC, along with a few quick notes.

According to sources, this is the Release Candidate build and will officially be released in a few days.

Oh no! Damn! And, this is in part because they wanna throw a "lavish party"? I would have thought the "lavish party" would have been more appropriate at the RTM stage!!!

Oh well...I really did not want to go back to Chrome (though I use it all the time and like it better than all other browsers including IE8).

Well then...Feb. 10 and back to Chrome it is, I guess!

If you think about it though - in all fairness, this "expected release" today was just a rumor that we (especially, I) took to be real...very real. I don't think I have come across a single official statement from MS saying that they were releasing the RC today - though, admittedly, I may not have read too much about it. Nevertheless, there was actually no real reason to it seriously.

I learnt a valuable lesson today!

You are correct in saying that there was no official word from MS, but there were conected sources saying that today was the day.

My thoughts are that MS changed their original plans

EDIT ~ To elaborate: The beta was released at a conference in San Francisco; we who have been waiting for the release on SevenForums were waiting for a particular timing acording to the PST timezone.
And now for the RC, the big story was that it'll be released today. Instead, we got a hinting confirmation from Microsoft that on Feb10th, in san Francisco, they'll share "important news". That was the big story that was supposed to be revealed today, not the actual RC itself. So yeah... More waiting, more bugs from the beta and stuff... *sigh*

Yeah...especially because both the linked articles say that MS has an important announcement to make regarding IE9. They could well consider announcing a final release date sometime in April as an "important announcement" and a "justifiable" cause for throwing a "lavish party"!!!!

They will announce the RC then. They have been compiling many different RC Escrow's, and they wouldn't pull everyone together to just announce a final date

one good suggestion is: never belive in Russian's rumors, they always lie
wait until Microsoft said the WORD that it will be released then i belive it

Hello Koi, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If you meant the latest leaked beta version download links, then it's been removed since the IE9 RC is going to be released, rumored on the 10th of February, soon.

There would be no point in installing that copy to only have to uninstall it shortly after for the RC.

I'm not 100% on that until the RC is actually released, but usually you will have to.
