For my work, I need to be able to manage the several thousand different fonts I need. My previous XP setup really lagged in this respect.

Does such a solution exist where I can perhaps hold all my fonts in a program, and only activate/install a font while I use it and then deactivate said font when I'm done for the day so my computer doesn't slow down?

My system is already slowed down by very clunky engineering software, and the last thing I need is another drag on my system.

Any other forums that may have helpful answers too?

Thanks in advance!

I use Bitstream Font Navigator which comes with CorelDraw. Sorry I don't know if it can be purchased stand alone, but I have 1800 fonts installed and it handles them with no problems at all. Sorry I can't be of more help but at least it might steer you in the right direction.

When you say it handles them all, do you mean the interface is easy to use or do you mean that it reduces strain on the operating system from all the fonts?

Basically, I'm trying to use all of these fonts without the fonts slowing down my system.

Well both really. I find it very easy to use and it handles my fonts fine. I only have a 1800 but I'm pretty sure it could handle allot more. One thing I do like is that you can install fonts on the "fly" ie. You don't need to restart the current application your in to use a recently installed font.
I can do some screen shots if you need them. ;)
