Linking computer to TV

After all this I think I know what the problem is. I just remembered that VGA and HDMI will not work in tandem. Please disconnect everything connected to your computer including Printers and Webcam. Then just connect the HDMI cable and have a look at the screen. I think it might connect now.

Please could you clarify what you mean? Do you mean VGA and HDMI don't work at the same time? If so, that's most certainly not true.

That was the last thing I done, uplugged the monitors with nothing else connected to the PC and tested with HDMI lead only but the TV screen stayed blank.

Finally after much research I bought the Samsung UE32C6000
Its a great TV the HDMI link worked straight away, my PC desktop appeared on the TV as soon as I selected the TV HDMI port.
BUT 1 Problem
Its overscanned in height and underscanned in width so I cannot see the icons on the taskbar.
I have read the tutorial to correct this on the nVidia website but it does not work.
This is what is supposed to happen:

I am trying to link my PC running Windows 7 which uses a nVidia Geforce 220 card driver version 266.58 to my Samsung UE32C6000 TV using a HDMIcable
I switch my TV to the HDMI1 which is the port I am using my desktop appears on the TV overscanned in height and underscanned in width, then I right click the PC screen and select nvidia control panel.
Following a nvidia help file I downloaded from your website

I select ‘Change Resolution’ which shows my native resolution 1920*1080 is being used.
Then select Adjust ‘Desktop Size and Position’
Next ‘Resize Desktop’
A blue screen appears on the TV with green arrows only in the bottom two corners I tried adjusting the two slider but was unable to bring the top arrows into view.
It seems as though the blue screen on the TV is too high up on the screen and bringing it down would display both its top edge and arrows, but I cannot see anyway of doing this.

I have enclosed a snapshot of the TV screen with the top arrows missing.
Maybe someone out there has the same video board and the answer (hopefully)

I did a quick search and it looks like you are a victim of technology and how engineers keep making things better for viewing TV; however you are using this as a computer display. The TV is has LCD Edge technology which means that the TV can display a picture all the way to the Edge of the LCD panel, many other TVs have a gap. This is nice because you are using the full LCD panel and it makes the TV picture bigger and you get the most use of the panel.

However the issues with this technology are picture clipping, because the picture is stretched about 1 centimeter past 1920x1080 to make sure you get the picture all the way to the Edge, with most TV shows or Movies this is not an issues were you are missing a centimeter of the picture all the way around or on just the sides. But when you are connected to a computer this cuts off important parts of the picture. After digging around and finding some in-depth reviews one of the missing features on this TV is the ability to turn off the overscan for the Edge feature for cases like you have.

I have a TV that does the same thing as yours; however I have a setting that lets me turn off Edge Display. When I do that the TV displays the computer perfectly, but when I watch TV in that mode I have a gap of 1 or 2 centimeters all the way around the screen.

Double check your TVs settings and see if you can disable the Edge Feature or if you can turn off Overscan or test each picture setting and see if one displays the picture better or correctly.

And/Or:

You can try changing your video settings on your video card start at 1920x1080 and go down one at a time until you find one that fits your screen the best. -WS

What do you mean. There is no need to reformat any HDD. This has nothing to do with Hard drives.

The Panasonic manual states:
Register the USB HDD with the TV in order to use it for recording. Please note the USB HDD will be formatted and all the data (including the data from your PC etc,)
Will be erased.

That's not funny. I suggest you purchase another HDD with either 500gb or 1tb memory specifically for that purpose. You will not be able to use the drive with the OS (Operating System) on it as the recordings will use all the surface of the HDD.
Don't forget to select the new Hard drive when installing...

Just a moment. USB. You cannot connect the PC to TV via USB as it will not function! What this means is that you can connect a seperate HDD via USB not the PC.

What PC Video card did you purchase...
What computer is it?
Let me just check the details for it...

I have not purchased a Video card, if I go ahead and purchase the Samsung LE32C650 I will be using whatever card there is in there.
The computer I am using is the Packard Bell iExtreme X6620UK
