Applying the CPU thermal paste can be tricky, best to let a shop do it if you aren't comfortable doing it.

As long as you have an intake fan and an exhaust fan working it should be ok, the other fan will help.

The key here is : Less is MORE and never forget remove the old stuff from CPU and Heatsink first (best with some Isoprop/rubbing alcohol on a cloth or a cotton swab)
Apply a pea-size dab to the center of your CPU and attach the heat sink. It's not like buttering a toast or something. You only want to fill the microscopic gaps on both surfaces. But if you don't feel comfortable, by all means have a trained tech doing it.
Once it's done I usually boot into BIOS to check the temps in the hardware monitor. The reason for that: If I did something wrong, it would show up in less than 5 minutes and the BIOS is the one place where you could pull the power plug without affecting the Windows installation

Remembered kinda late to report in.

Comp came back from shop after they ran their own tests on it. The temperature was the issue, more precisely my fan that has been overworked lately. According to them, replacing the fan should be enough. They'll run the tests at their lab anyway.
Also, dust. Apparently it was a bit long since I last dusted.

So I'll report back after I get a new CPU fan.

Computer just back and toting a CoolerMaster V8. This step up from fan to car engine is pretty nice.

According to them, after 3 hours of stress testing on the CPU, the processors don't break 70 degrees. I am not unwilling to run Prime95 on it, though.

Let us know if you run Prime95 and of coarse what the temps were.
