Message on startup

Hello,

I have Windows 7 Ultimate and an annoying Dos pop up window saying it runs C:\Windows Update\server.exe which does not really exist opens two times or three making me wait some time before the other startup processes finish and windows been functionable. I have run antivirus and registry fix program and didn't work. What should i do to fix it?

You can run msconfig and look in the startup tab, see if you can find it there.

From what I found searching for C:\Windows Update\server.exe, this could be malware.
You should start running anti-virus and anti-malware scans, or ask in the Security forum.

Did you install the OS, or is it an OEM (PC manufacturer) installation?

I didn't used any of the programs. I used before but now i still don't have it as a problem occured make me installed windows again. The Windows i have is not OEM. Is installed version.

So you ran a Factory restore and your machine is running okay now?

No. It was other problem. I don't want to reinstall again.

From post #4, I think that the OP installed a retail version of W7 - thus no OEM/factory restore.

Establish a completely Clean Boot (not diagnostics only) from Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7.

Win7 needs nothing except MS services starting with it. All others are freeloaders and cause problems like you're experiencing.

Compare the reinstall you did to the perfect reinstall in Clean Reinstall . I would do it over if it varied much.
