1. I had responded, just didn't click Post. duh. The clone in on a thumb drive. The hdd is presently in the pc. The ssd is ready to replace the hdd. As per EaseUS... change bios for a USB boot, shut down, swap out hdd to sdd. Cold boot was suppose to load from the USB - that's when I wrote you. Plan is to then restore from the USB clone to the blank ssd. FYI, I also have an emergency boot disk just in case.
2. My intention is not to create a VHD, but was trying anything to assign a drive for the one USB partition.
3. I take it if we can assign the partition as G: and make it bootable, the pc will recognize the USB. If correct, I might be on my way... hoping.
