In an effort to save SSD space, I came across the idea of mounting a games partition to a C:\Program Files (X86)\Games\ folder.

I’m wondering though why not just install games directly to that partition? I don’t think I’ve come across a game that doesn’t allow you to designate the installation location.

Or does Windows 7 automatically look in the system drive for games info? For example, clicking on the games link in the startup menu.

Welcome!

You right, you can just as well install the games directly to the partition. If you would like, you can add a shortcut to the game in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Games

Many games automatically stick a shortcut there, anyway.
