Solved My Pictures Folder

I accidentally deleted My Pictures and it also got emptied in the recycle folder. My Pictures were all backed up to a CD so I didn't loose any. I opened My Documents and made a new My Picture folder and got it set up in my send to. When I set up my web cam it is suppose to put a LifeCam Files folder in My Pictures which it didn't. Then I get a message that says it can't find the LifeCam Files folder. I'm thinking that something is not set up right since I made a replacement folder and programs can't find the My Picture folder. Any Ideas

My pictures should go in C:\Users\user name
Thats where it normally is.

Hello Richard,

If the folder is still in the Recycle Bin, you should be able to restore it and all of it's contents back.

If not, then you can use OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to help you restore the My Pictures folder back to the default location of C:\Users\(user-name)\My Pictures. Afterwards, reinstall your Lifecam software to have it place the folder in there.

I made a new folder for My Pictures so it's in the right spot on C drive but when you right click and check properties it has no location tab. I downloaded the file in option two and ran it and did a couple of restarts but it still has no location tab. I uninstalled the web cam and reinstalled it and when I click on the web cam short cut it opens and the life cam files folder pops up on my desk top. It belongs in my pictures so if you copy and paste it to my pictures and delete the one on the desk top and close the web cam. When you click on the web cam again it opens and puts another file on the desk top.

You needed to do the steps in OPTION TWO before creating the new folder. Delete the folder, and start over in OPTION TWO step by step again to see if it may be able to work for you this round.

Thanks Brink that got it. I had to go through it twice but got it done. I guess you have to leave it Pictures now instead of My Pictures. No big deal , ether way is OK so long as it works. Need to make a new short cut now for the send to. Thanks again for all your help. PS. That fixed my life cam problem and life cam files are in the picture folder where they belong.

Brink this is just a question I thought about this morning. After going through that procedure for the folder, is there is there a reason why it couldn't have been done with the name My Pictures like the original instead of the name Pictures?

Even though it's suppose the have the name "My Pictures" by default, the path to the folder is actually "C:\Users\User-Name\Music". I'm not sure why it didn't change to "My Pictures" automatically for you after doing the tutorial unless some mistake may have been made somewhere.

Does it have the correct icon for the folder, and have the "Location" tab in properties?
