I will not be totally shocked if the next one has same problem, I would have put that new video card in another system before RMA'n it.

I have so many old video cards, last one that went bad was like 7 cards back, I don't overclock at all though, so YMMV.

Run a Linux LiveCD build on the system with that card in, if it works perfect it's highly unlikely the card.

A spare HD to install whatever OS to, for virgin testing, if I need it, which I would do in a case like this one, any old 20+ gig HD will do. [Compuvest is a great place for old parts]

I now have the "old" GeForce 210 in my new system and there is no problems at all.

I hope it was just a bad card, though.

Normally, a bad video card is a lot more obvious than that.

Linux Mint has a sweet LiveCD, I suggest you get one ready. 1 DVD-R investment.

The LiveCD is also the install DVD, I have been using the KDE variants, if you have never dabbled.

Maybe I missed something, I was late to catch up on the matter with the new card purchase.

My bad card experiences have been NO picture what so ever, scrambled picture, very high res multicolored thin line patterns, some type of shrieking noise and in some cases black streak on the card electronics, and I recall one having part of the PCB break off.

AKA, more obvious.

Black streaks generally after the fan fails, I would surmise... only one fire! muhaha

I have been inside thousands of cases.

BUGS covers a lot of stuff we ourselves can't really know for sure, but includes possible Motherboard (drivers) incompatibility with a NEW piece of hardware, perhaps?

I prefer to buy cards local if I can for just this reason.

I couldn't on my 7950 though, so I gambled as well.

The new MSI GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost is in and running just fine.

All the problems with the previous GPU have not returned, it's been 36hr's or so with no glitches.
No pop-ups for the driver has stopped working and no Firefox crashes.

The thing which bugs me is the CD which comes with it, the first one was useless and now the newest one is useless also. It will not auto-run, can't install anything that's on it.
I did download the newest driver before I installed the new GPU, which saved me from digging thru the CD manually like the first time.

Anyone else have this happen ?

I avoid hardware install CDs . when possible, they are must likely months behind.

Glad it worked out, I just got a FX-8350 CPU installed, didn't go cleanly, but turned out BIOS reset via motherboard did the trick, just had to redo all the settings and back in business, whew!

Glad your new card is going good. As far as the disc, I never use them , You can go to MSI website and download anything that is on the disc, usually a old driver, Afterburner and some other trial software etc. You are better just getting the latest driver.

Looked at the manual and decided against using it as I'm not a gamer and not planning on OC'ing for any reason.
