No Audio Output Device Installed. Red cross on Volume icon in task bar.
1. MOBO sound card won't work.
2. Installed sound card won't work.
3. I posted this previously and installing the sound card fixed the issue.
Unfortunately, I reinstalled Windows 7 and now no sound works on the MOBO or sound card?
Update Driver Software cannot find driver software for my device.

I have posted here but no one will read it on page 23. http://www.sevenforums.com/sound-audio/199861-no-audio-output-device-installed-23.html#post1721472

If you are certain you are using the same driver that worked before, and it was installed after windows was allowed to install all the drivers initially (often several to many reboots) then you may want to try to rule out a hardware problem - even though it is new. I would try to download a Linux OS that can be run straight off a CD/DVD such as Ubuntu, and run it without installing anything to your hard drive. Check whether or not it will produce sound using your sound card.

Might want to try (with the computer unplugged) unplugging, and reseating the sound card, to be sure it is making perfect contact (and use the fastening screw, which may people will omit, to hold the card in place when un/plugging connectors)

Let me know the results!

Best of luck!
Mike :)

Hello eiger3970,

So itWAS the driver! That's great that you got it to install correctly this time - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

you may want to at minimum make a note of the driver versions for the audio driver(s) (and the chipset driver) just in case an incorrect driver gets installed in the future and you can't roll back.

IDEALLY, now that it is working perfectly (from what I am hearing, anyway) I would make a full image backup of your system, so that if you ever run into any problems in the future - you'll be able to recover much faster to a working state, without the hassle of locating all the right drivers, and so forth!

Here's a tutorial on how to do that, it's both simple, and will be well worth your time and space on whatever storage media you decide to use: Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup. I highly recommend this step!

Either way, I'm glad to hear it's fixed, eiger! Thx for reporting back your results and checking solved too! I hope you have a Happy New Year (esp. now with a working system for a gift!)

Congrats again!
Mike :D

After reinstalling Windows 7 64bit due to a HDD no longer being recognised...I'm back to the no audio issue.

I have downloaded the driver, but now the error is:
Problems found
Hardware changes might not have been detected.

Also another error:
Windows was unable to install your Multimedia Audio Controller.
Windows could not find driver software for your device.

Also another error after running the downloaded audio device driver:
Device driver software was not successfully installed.
Multimedia Audio Controller. No driver found.

Please help.

Anyone with any ideas?
My MOBO sound won't work.
My sound card put in to fix the sound won't work?
What is going on.
The same error as per the above post still happens.

Well, I've now installed a different motherboard ASRock G41M-VS3 and the same problem?
A red cross on the Volume icon in the taskbar?
Control Panel\Sound says No audio devices are installed?

But this is another motherboard which worked fine in another tower.
Any ideas?
