Ongoing Annoying Problem!

By the way, I'm one of those folks who did finally turn my UAC off a while back, but I have pretty solid anti virus - anti spyware protection, and, knock on wood, haven't had any invasion since I turned my UAC off.

I would not query you turning off the UAC. Your participation on the Forum suggests to me that you have enough experience to know what you are doing. I think, sometimes, we feel the urge to save some souls from themselves. But there that is the impetuosity of youth. Well I think it is, I can't remember!

Anti-this-or-that software is not a replacement for UAC. As a matter of fact, the amount of security that any of those software packages add to your system is minimal compared to running as a Standard User with UAC turned on. Running your day-to-day work as a user with administrative privileges and UAC turned off is a sure sign of incompetence as far as computer security is concerned. Sorry for the harsh words, but there is no way to sugar-coat this kind of thing.
