In a mac (apple computer), you can install windows os using the boot camp utility. But dont know why the mac os is not possible to install in a pc. I believe it is a double stand by the mac men.

Actually I am also searching for the same thing ... any help in this regard .... for a long time

1+ I agree ... it is not to bash others.

Yes there is a way to download mac os, but it is the quest of the way to install it in a pc . In the first page, the discussion is about dual booting mac and win 7 in a mac , not in a pc. If it is possible and legal , and the reverse is impossible and illegal , and if anybody ask for the reason behind such a stand, is not the asking justifiable ?

Say I can come to your home as I wish, but you are banned to my place, what would you think :D ? Whimsical ,or equitable ?

Just this is my asking :D And nothing more .

So boot in Windows 7, and unhide your hidden 200MB partition:

There is no 200MB hidden partition

1. In disk management, assign a drive letter for your 200MB hidden partition.

No 200 MB partition again

2.Download EasyBCD and add a new boot entry, select MacOS, Generic X86, Add, Save. That's it.

There's nothing like "MacOS Generic X86 in EasyBCD at all.
Your guide is also as false as others.

Correct it!

I can get to the, i tought its called, Chameleon boot.. I can couse 3 different items:

Pal DNX , it was a day when I spent thousands of hours to have a mac installation on a non mac system . Tried in intel machine , AMD machine ; tried all the available versions , and all the online tutorials . The shot you posted is the closest result of my best try . 85% of my tries ended with a kernel panic

After lossing a lot of hours and energy , I realized that it is either it is impossible to do or it is possible to only a few lucky guys . I stopped this effort coz I realized that I am not among those lucky guys . May be you are ....

What do you mean with a kernal panic??

I will also try this with iPC OSx86 1.5.6 and will tell you what happens.
I think the biggest problem is the easyBCD procedure..

Ok .. kernel panic is such a thing that displays "you got a kernel panic" or something similar ..... so the end result does not go upto that stage where you are at present .

Waiting to see what it turns out ...

Some installation queries

Hello pmcgarr

I have dual boot W7 and OSX 10.5.6.

All you need to do is first , install W7. Then, create a new partition for your osx within W7 , format it as fat32 or ntfs and set to to be "active".

Then run the osx installation and before you start the install, go to Utilities and "disk utility" , select the partition you created from W7 and format it as Journaled (don't delete it!).

Then, install as you would normally, selecting this partition as your installation target. (don't forget to customize your OSX installation with the necessary drivers for you system.)

After installation is complete, you will need to repair your W7 boot loader, cause you probably won't be able to boot W7.
Insert the W7 installation DVD, at the first installation screen select your language etc, and at the second screen select "repair computer".
This will bring the W7 boot loader back, so you can boot W7.

Now you won't be able to load osx!
So boot in Windows 7, and unhide your hidden 200MB partition:

1. In disk management, assign a drive letter for your 200MB hidden partition.

2.Download EasyBCD and add a new boot entry, select MacOS, Generic X86, Add, Save. That's it.

You can now have dual boot with W7 and OSX

Hi, 'limneos'

Thanks for the info, but plz allow me to ask u one ques.
I meant, many ;-)

1. installing mac os on a non-apple system is illegal. I've downoaded mac os x 10.6 snow leopard from TPB. So, if something goes wrong, nd I call a Microsoft authorized technician, does he have the right to mark my doings as illegal and report to apple (any ideas would help)?

2. secondly, I've got a system of 1 GB RAM, with Intel Graphics... will it be compatible with mac?

3. would be kind to plz explain it a bit more throughly here, or to my email ([email protected])? I really LOVED mac when I tried it on my friend's imac, but who wants to spend so many dollars for a macbook or something, when u already have windows 7 ultimate? I don't want to erase any important windows files, so that I don't have to REINSTALL windows back over again.

4. The windows 7 ultimate that I'm using is also downloaded from the net. I've got the bootable DVD and all, so is it still safe?

5. I hope I'm not troubling u, but 2nd last ques.: In CPU-Z, it marks my processor (Intel Pentium Dual-Core e5200 - 2.50ghz) as SSE (1, 2, 3, 3S). Is it the same as 'SSE ' and SSE 3'? Cos, in youtube, I saw one video where it was mentioned that I needed to have a 'SSE 2/3' PC. It also said that I needed to have an ATI or NVIDIA Graphics card. But, mine is of Intel, 256 mb. will mac still run?

6. in the installation instructions of the torrent, it's written that it'll load up as 64bit OS. So, it said, that I need to mention some '-v arch = i386 or arch = i386'. when do i have to mention this (since im having a x86 based system)

Thx a LOT! [in advance]

c ya!

PS iv attached the '.txt' file in the atachments. plz view it. if u wanna ans to my email, its mentioned above, feel free 2 do so.

Hi, I'm new here and found the solution for installing OS X pretty interesting. I had a couple of questions however,
1. I have Win7 already installed, is it okay to install Mac OS X right away in a different fresh partition? Or will I need to install Win7 again as well?
2. I have an .iso image of Mac OS X. I was wondering if Macs support isos. Can some vouch for that and confirm if going forward with burning an iso on a DVD should work?

Thank you for the solution anyway :)
