PC randomly crashes when gaming?

FWIW, I was able to find the screenshots in post 95 by rightclicking, selecting properties, copy the link, paste into address bar. For some reason they're not resolved within the post.

So what are you saying, you selected "Enable Smart" in ESTools?

Was there anything you saw in any of the diagnostics programs that you ran that indicated to you whether SMART was currently enabled or disabled?

Based on what Seatools reported I would think they would have discovered SMART was disabled. Unless, of course, Seatools was not capable of reading the status properly to begin with. It would be interesting to see if Seatools now reports SMART as enabled...

yeah, I see them now in both posts, thanks. I actually clicked on the link I posted and the image was found, when I returned to the forum everything showed.

OP, install the drivers you had on your computer before, if you originally used the disk then use the disk again, and let Windows Update update it.

Some questions
1, Normally I use 64 bit dose that matter? This time should I use 32 bit?
2, Network drivers should I use my disk or download the ones from the site?

-J

Some Answers
1. Use 64 bit
2. I would recommend using the ones that were on the drive to keep this as a controlled test environment.

What you are trying to do is set this drive up as close to the one you had in the computer earlier, this way we are only testing the physical drive and not the software.

Good point. On top of that he'd lose 4 GB memory.

Now we've done it! I agree with tlarseth on the merit of troubleshooting. I agree with Greg on the merit of newest driver.

I suppose the best practices win. Go with what came with the motherbaord and if there are issues, try the newer driver.

Of course, Greg or F5ing or another member might offer yet another opinion - lol

My advice was to first install the disk which is the original driver he used, and then let Windows Update bring the driver up to date, thus in the end giving him the latest Microsoft approved driver. I am agreeing with the others, but telling him how he should get to that install they want him at.

Can you see the images now?
And here you are Seatools:

@Slartybart,
Not sure why that happen? I was going to say make sure your not blacking from postimage.org

@tlarseth,
Will do! :D

@F5ing,
I have 8GBs of ram so if I lose 4 I would have 4? xD I don't what you said there.

@Slartybart,
I will be swapping drives later :), I just wanted to know if I should use my disk (which was shipped with my motherboard, Or just download them from the site) Guess I will go with disk? But I will wait for others to see what they say.

Images are fine now, F5ing had the same problem, so it wasn't just me. You were mostly likely able to see them because they were in your cache. Everything image related resolved itself.

You have Win 7 ultimate - different versions of Windows can manage different max memory - on top of that 32 bit can't manage as much as 64 bit. I'd have to check but you might not lose 4 mb (utimate). It's moot - you're install the 64 bit Windows.

I went back and read comments re: "the driver".
If you need the driver... is the first point
--> after that the conversation is ambiguous - "use the one on the disk" or "use the one on the drive", so I can understand any confusion.

The best practices answer is:
Use the driver that shipped with your mobo.
Let Windows Update provide the driver it wants for your hardware.

I'm done with this question. There were only two possible choices. Now there is only one.

@F5ing,
Can you see the images now?

I saw them already, just had to hunt them down. They're popping up just fine now though -- no hunting necessary.

And here you are Seatools:
2012_11_08_281.jpg

Okay, thanks. Looks like Seatools isn't capable of reading the SMART status of that drive.

@F5ing,
I have 8GBs of ram so if I lose 4 I would have 4? xD I don't what you said there.

32 bit w7 can only utilize up to 4 GB, so the other 4 would be useless.

I will be swapping drives later :), I just wanted to know if I should use my disk (which was shipped with my motherboard, Or just download them from the site) Guess I will go with disk? But I will wait for others to see what they say.

I might be thinking of another thread. Didn't you lose internet/network access on your current install (due to a fresh install)?

Let Win7 provided the drivers. In Win8 we don't even interact with driver installs, this is a WIn7 improvement.

After all Updates are installed import any missing drivers from the Support Downloads webpage for the device. We can help you find any.

SeaTools may misreport SMART status on other models as there's another case today of that.

@Slartybart,
Thanks! Also am glad the images work for you now :)

@F5ing,
I will give this HD a seatools to see if it is the same or not.
When I do a fresh install I have no internet access (not sure why) So I installed the lan drives which was on my disk and then I connect :)

@gregrocker,
And...... Am done!

I am now on my new HD 160GB I did everything which was said I did the whole diskpart "clean"
Installed the os... And I have installed every (not the language ones) Windows updates there is!
That is all I have right now on this PC

What now?

Set Updates to Automatic and Deliver Recommended Updates the same as Important.

WHile you wait to see if the problem persists, check the logs for repeat errors to resolve and monitor the System Resources as given in Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7

Hello, Seatools should work well on a Maxtor drive, Seagate owns it. You can see if you can enable SMART in your BIOS for this drive.

Odd, you might try this HDDScan It's a stand-alone app that needs no installation. find your drive in the drop-down menu, then click the SMART button. All values should have a green dot.
Click the blue button in the middle to show more tests. Curious to see if it will pick up the SMART attribute of the drive.
