Problem accessing boot screen after upgrade

I have recently upgraded from the Beta to the RC. All went well, except for one issue. I can no longer access the boot screen to choose which of my dual-boots I want.

I have a wireless USB desktop, and whereas previously this was available to access the boot screen, since the upgrade it is only available after the Windows splash screen shows.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, is there a fix?

It's not a major issue at present, but could turn out to be if, for any reason, I need to access my XP boot.

(I know that I can more than likely access it if need-be by connecting a PS2 keyboard, but I would like to avoid that hassle if possible)

Put your disk in drive and just like you would on a install start up. When you get to the part that asks you to install if you look in the bottom left hand corner you will see it says repair computer(or something to that effect), open that and click on start up repair. It will then hopefully help you. Or you could also get this MajorGeeks.Com - Contacting Download Site and repair it with that.

The above is a direct link to vista boot pro which will more than accommodate you in your quest.

I have just noticed a glaring error in my original post...

Whereas I had performed an upgrade from Beta to RC on my laptop, the above problem is occuring on my desktop PC, upon which I performed a fresh install onto a new HDD

Should I still follow the advice given?

BTW - I can't follow the first option, as I can't boot from CD/DVD, since I can't 'Press Any Key' when prompted :s

Decided to take the plunge, and ran Vista Boot Pro...

However, I understand why you gave me this advice, but it's not the answer to my problem. Rather than a way of configuring the boot screen, I need to find a way of enabling my USB keyboard so that I can use it on the boot screen, as was the case before.

I just wish I had some kind of explanation why this was happening though...

To clarify - the keyboard is OK during BIOS (i.e. I can press F2 to enter setup), then is unusable again until the Windows splash screen appears.

Is it worth trying to repair my installation, or is a fresh install my only option?

Have you tried to reset the keyboard by pushing the rest connect button on the bottom or side of the wireless keyboard?

Not really sure why this would help...the keyboard is functioning as it should, except for during the boot screen.

OK, I have been looking further into this today, and notice that NO USB devices are operating in the time between BIOS and Boot Screen.

This is 100% definitely something that has happened since installing the RC.

What part of the OS controls this, and is it able to change any settings?

I have the RC up and running on my laptop. I ran into the same issue. After the first start up, every time the log in screen starts I lose keyboard functionality. I use the onscreen keyboard to log in and the keyboard goes back to working as usual.

UPDATE:
I tried to remedy the keyboard issue by updating the drivers via the properties menu. When Windows said that the drivers are up to date, I restarted my computer and there were no keyboard problems. I guess it just needed to be reminded that there is actually a keyboard there.
